First of all can we say we were a bit hesitant about staying due to the previous reviews. So we saw NO bed bugs , the bedding was clean , toilet and sink both worked. The room would benefit from a deep clean and a lick of paint but apart from that everything was fine. We would not stay again due to the stairs as a we are in our late 50s and they are quite steep. The position of the accommodation is great everything within walking distance

Een nette grote kamer met prima faciliteiten. Fijn bed, groot (bubbel)bad en inloopdouche (douchekop mag beter). Ideale locatie nabij Leidseplein op loopafstand van gezelligheid, musea, winkelstraten eigenlijk alles in het centrum is te belopen. Ook metro en tram binnen wandelafstand. Prijs/kwaliteit is prima in verhouding.

Pros: • The check-in and check-out process was very smooth and straightforward. • The apartment offers space — quite rare for Amsterdam, where accommodations are often cramped. • Friendly and responsive service — I called in advance to ask a few questions and received helpful information. • Great location: both the Vondelpark and the city center are just a 10–15 minute walk away. • There was a small coffee machine with capsules available (we didn’t use it since we were out most of the day). Cons: • The carpet might not be the most hygienic choice, especially since there’s no dedicated area to remove shoes. My fiancé has a dust mite allergy and wasn’t feeling his best during the stay. • The shower head didn’t stay in place properly, and only one of the toilet flush buttons was functioning. Overall: We also checked for bedbugs and found none. All in all, it’s a fine place for a short stay of a few days.

Amazing stay. The place was clean and quite cozy and really added the extra bit to my trip. There was one issue my end when the check in instructions would not download, but 1 phone call and I was sorted in minutes and I even did the late check out!

Terrible experience. The apartment was filthy and unfit for purpose – stained bedding, blocked sink, broken toilet and shower, bed bug bites, and no mattress protectors. Curtains fell down, half the lights didn’t work, and dirty bedding was stuffed in the wardrobe. We raised concerns before travelling after seeing reviews about bed bugs, but the host refused to cancel. Once there, they ignored our messages and later denied all wrongdoing. We were stuck as it was Pride weekend with no other options available. Avoid this property at all costs – it is not as advertised and completely unacceptable.

It’s a loft room so has lots of narrow steep stairs. Ok with a small bag but tough if your travelling with lots of stuff. That said once you have made the climb like any decent hill the view from the top was worth it. Nice room. Clean. Bed very comfortable. Shower is great. All you need really. Great local atmosphere with bars and eateries near by. Would recommend.

I booked this room late one evening and didn't notice there were some reviews mentioning BED BUGS. I messaged the property asking if they had fixed the problem since the reviews, but didn't get a reply. So I felt suspicious. As soon as I checked in, I looked for signs of bed bugs and found many dead bugs in the corners of the room and under the bed. The carpets were heavily soiled and stained and there were other disrepair issues in the place. I immediately removed my bags from the room, and asked the co-host to cancel my stay. She said she would contact the main host. I waited 20 minutes outside on the street with no response. I used the hotels.com chat to report the situation. Within 30 minutes, the host agreed to cancel and refund my booking. I'm grateful that the host was agreeable to my refund request. Still, it was super inconvenient as I had to find alternative accommodation in the last minute. I suggest the carpets should be removed and the bugs exterminated by a certifed company before this host is allowed to list their property for rental. I cant fully vouch for it, because I didnt stay there. But it is in an excellent location, with easy check in, and nice decor... If only they can fix the bug problem and fix a few of the other broken issues, it would likely be a great stay.

Localization is perfekt. You can just walk everywhere and stop at your apartment as needed. I was really disappointed over how dirty the studio was. Carpet seemed to not be vacuumed. Because of the ceiling fan, dust was basically everywhere, even in the air. Overall: really good localized studio, but it wasn’t as good as it seemed to be on the pictures. Needs some serious cleaning.

We had to call the owner constantly because the door wouldn't open. And we checked in later than expected. The owner of the apartment didn't get in touch for a long time. There is no door in the toilet. We stayed for 2 days, no one came to clean the next day.

BED BUGS! My partner and I arrived here late in the night and went straight to bed upon arrival as we were exhausted from a full day of traveling. When woke up, we noticed bugs crawling on the bed and bites all over our legs. We took pictures and videos and immediately sent to Expedia, and they contacted the owner of the property. THE OWNER LIED and said he “saw us smoking in the room” therefore he was not going to give us a refund. Let me clarify, my partner and I do not smoke, and have never smoked in our lives. The owner clearly knew he had a bed bug issue on the room and was ready for excuse to not refund us. Even with pictures and videos of the bed bugs crawling on the bed, 1 crawling on our leg, and bite marks on our ankles, we were not refunded. 3 hours of phone calls with Expedia, no resolution. DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU ARE TRAVELING!

Privates Zimmer unter dem Dach ohne Rezeption, per Schlüssel-Code kommt man rein. Sehr steile Stufen, Zimmer hat Charme ist aber etwas staubig. Ein Duschvorleger könnte helfen, das Wasser im Zaum zu halten. Bad riecht etwas streng, kann man aber Nix machen. Insgesamt bin ich sehr glücklich mit dem Zimmer gewesen, da es super zentral und in einem charismatischen Viertel liegt. Toller Tapasladen, Coffeeshop und Frühstück in 1 min erreichbar. Würde es nochmal buchen. Wie waren am 3.5.2025 da.

Review of Kerkstraat Residence – Amsterdam We recently stayed at Kerkstraat Residence in Amsterdam and, unfortunately, our experience left much to be desired. The Positives:
 Kerkstraat Residence is centrally located, making it easy to walk to shops, museums, and restaurants. This made our time exploring Amsterdam very enjoyable and convenient. The Negatives: 
The accommodations were disappointing from the moment we arrived. Our room was not prepared upon check-in, a frustrating delay as we had to wait for a housekeeper to clean the space. The innkeepers were unable to provide a clear explanation, other than blaming Expedia (our booking platform), though they did promptly send someone to clean. The initial impression of the property was quite poor. The carpet inside the inn was dirty and unvacuumed, and outside the entrance, we were greeted by a dead plant in a pot—a small detail, but one that set the tone for what followed. The last-minute cleaning job, though appreciated, was rushed and did little to improve the room’s overall presentation, which was modest at best. The reality of the room did not match the online images we had seen when booking. There were multiple maintenance and cleanliness issues, including: Non-working light bulbs (only one bulb functioning in a fixture that should have had three), inadequate bathroom lighting, dirty carpet, even after being vacuumed, no place to hang bath towels, a filthy bed headboard. The space felt more like a hostel.

The location is beautiful and the apartment is very clean and well styled. The property was a little tricky to locate at first as there is no signage/reception. Be aware that you will need to take your luggage up a very narrow flight of stairs.

Really dirty place. Everything seems broken. Dust everywhere, toilet doesn't flush properly, you have to do it manually, the button plate is broken. The jacuzzi bath doesn’t work, the shower on the bath doesn't work it was the only reason we chose the hotel. Let down.

Dopo aver atteso le 15:00 per accedere alla camera all arrivo riscaldamento staccato, finestre aperte, polvere e ragnatele ovunque. La camera era davvero sporca, probabilmente le pulizie nell’ ultimo anno non erano mai state fatte, e per ciliegina sulla torta una carta di preservativo sotto il letto, Ho fatto notare il tutto al proprietario che si è presentato senza preavviso alla porta della camera, dopo aver fatto notare il porcile nel pomeriggio ha almeno provato a togliere le ragnatele, la carta del preservativo è rimasta sotto il letto, Che dire una camera davvero sporca, se prenotate per due persone la polvere vi farà molta compagnia

Really nice room in a great location that is walkable to all areas of Amsterdam. Great value for money and smooth check-in/out. Would recommend!

Unfortunately, not satisfying, dirty and bedbugs got red small marks/bites on my back ☹️ not a nice experience

We booked a stay here in March. On arrival we found the property to be dirty and have a bad smell. The carpets are dirty, and the bed headboard was broken and also smelled like the sheets had not been clean. The pillows are also yellow and stained. The owners were contacted but did not reply until several hours later. As the property is not habitable we had to book alternative accommodation. The owner's pictures do not represent the current condition of the property. Avoid staying here. If you look the property listing on other websites (trip advisor) you will see similar complaints about how unhygienic the property is.

Great location, nice place. Sadly jacuzzi bath tub was not working.

Einchecken war ziemlich problematisch. Ich telefonierte schon mit der Expedia hotline bis endlich die Zugangsdaten für den Self Check in kamen. Die Handtücher waren sehr sehr klein und die Badewanne funktionierte nur bedingt.. dazu wäre wenigstens ein Vorhang für das Bad denkbar.. so ist es schon arg Privatsphärelos. Sonst aber schön und zentral.
