Good getaway option for aucklanders

It was truly an amazing experience. One of the most beautiful and pleasant moments of my life. The people, the villa, the food, and the view were all worth while. I hope to come back again!

View was amazing but that is probably it. The rooms were a little outdated but the overall stay was good. Hotel breakfast was average, with small selection of hot food, bread and dessert. Check-out was annoying as there was only one person at the counter, so if the person at the front of the queue had an issue to resolve, everyone else had to wait. There were multiple teams who had major issues with room service so had to stand there for over 20 minutes just to hand over the keys.

Room service food was cold for which I received only a 20% discount!!! Should have been free. Trying to reach anyone in the resort via the phone system was a nightmare. I would never go to this resort ever again

Awesome holiday break away with amazing views and friendly staff. Very peaceful and good for the soul. Will gladly recommend this resort and will be making this my one-stop quick breakaway.

A real hidden gem outside of Auckland, felt like an island on its own and the name Castaways really live up to its name with amazing views. The Villa was exceptional clean and the service from reception to everyone was fantastic.

The restaurant is very for the breakfast, very small amount of options for vegans or vegetarians. There is definitely a room for improvement for the restaurant. Otherwise we loved our stay. Thank you

Check was easy and prompt. Friendly staff. Asked for an accessible unit and this was no problem

I liked the fact that the property manager addressed our concerns promptly and provided solutions. Excellent customer service.

A bit of difficulty navigating to and from site. Reception staff was preoccupied with text messages to notice our presence. Check-in delayed by an hour and a half because room not serviced. Free non-alcoholic drink voucher offered while we waited down at the restaurant. Restaurant staff wonderful evening and at breakfast. Staff driving us to and from our room, car park and restaurant were super friendly. These staff were most apologetic about some of the reception issues we had both at check in and not being able ring for a buggy to take us to breakfast. Accommodation was fabulous. It was high up the hill and our car was parked even further up the hill so had to schedule staff to transport us around the property. Breathtaking views. Very spacious with separate lounge, dining kitchenette, bedroom, bathroom and cloth washing machine & dryer in passage behind cupboard doors. Lots of cupboard solace. Kitchen well equipped for cooking nd preparing meals. A very relaxing stay, just what we needed after a hectic two weeks in New Zealand. Meals at the Restaurant both day and night were delicious.

Amazing waterfront getaway, only an hour away from Auckland!

Beautiful location. Came back for our anniversary (we got married here 8 years ago). Only downfall was we were in a 1 bedroom unit joined to a villa, the bedroom had no kitchen facilities, no coffee and no cutlery other than teaspoons. But we would stay here again and staff were very accommodating

Stunning location, well designed chalets inside and for privacy with view outside.

Beautiful property! The villa was like new inside, super clean and comfortable. Great views of the sunrise, sunset and the stars and moon. Make sure to replan golf cart pick ups before 8 am. Only other issue I had was asking to cancel or move 2 days (over a month and a half before the trip) to a sister property, they said they were fully booked so I would have to cancel the entire stay and try to rebook again for the new dates I wanted. I even offered to stay at a sister property in areas where excursions that had been booked and were several hours away.

Castaways Resort was wonderful. The chalet was clean, comfortable, and had a wonderful view of the sea. The restaurant was good and had a great variety for breakfast. It is out of the way, but if you’re looking for someplace remote and quiet, this place is excellent.

Castaways is a fantastic property to stay at. The location, the views from our chalet, were all incredible! Deepak at the reception was very accommodating and most helpful with our queries and requests. If you want to truly unwind and relax, then this resort is an absolute must!! The best part is that you can arrive here (from Auckland) in an hour and feel like you’re so far away from the hustle and bustle of the city. 👍🤗

More than a view is needed for a pleasant stay. To classify the property as a resort is a stretch. Calling and waiting for a golf buggy to take you everywhere, including to your car is ridiculous. Also, the villas are not properly sound proofed to rent to two different sets of guests. Worst of all, the cleaning services were completely unreliable. We were even told we had to be in the villa when cleaners came. We didn’t travel 12,000km to sit in a room waiting for the cleaners to come! As beautiful as the view is, we can’t recommend the Castaways Resort for more than a one night stay.

This is one of the best resort with spectacular views. I am glad we stayed over here for our Valentine's day. Beautiful ocean view from top of the hill, we got magnificent sun set. Very few negatives, there was a glass bottle with cigarette butts in it in the gallery, the water kettle was rusted. Other than this we loved this property. Highly recommend.
