This is an awesome place, friendly service, minutes from downtown.

This property was a true Portuguese Experience. The owners are so amazing!!! The rooms are not upgraded but it was fine for us. We loved it and would go back! Great location and close to so many restaurants and walk anywhere. I would highly recommend this property.

After a late email regarding checkin time, check the small print, i finally checked into room number 11, this took me back 40 years as it was so old fashioned with sheets on the bed, mis matched carpets, a 40 year old tv, power point beside the bed coming away from the wall. The toilet has to be one of the most disgusting i have had as part of my accommodation, so small, the toilet bowl all marked, didnt have a shower on last morning as i couldnt face it. On the plus side i had breakfast on the first morning and for 4 euros i found this to be a good price for what was on offer. I have read a lot of the comments on this accommodation and i find it really strange where the 10/10 comes from, surely a 2/10 is fair. The above might also explain why there is no discription of the facilities offered in the rooms.

Struttura molto accogliente e pratica

We have just returned from a short break to Madeira and had a lovely stay. John the owner is a lovely gentleman and his son Alberto made us very welcome. The hotel is very central and only a five minute walk to the cable car, buses and restaurants. Although the hotel is dated decor wise it is spotlessly clean. We had the breakfast and the Madeira breakfast rolls are delicious, the breakfast is great value. We will return to this hotel. Thanks John and your family for a lovely trip!

Absolutely the most caring and friendly family run hotel. Minutes walk to central Funchal area. Such a lovely welcome from Humberto to this homely traditional hotel, was even shown and given a choice of rooms. My room with a balcony had the most beautiful views, with en suite bathroom, where, may I say, the cleanliness is superb, from pure white towels, bedding etc.(I walked on my room carpets with white socks where the soles were spotless when I removed them!) We met John, Humberto's dad at breakfast, again with such a warm and friendly welcome to take our order for breakfast, which was unbelievably good at an exceptionally low price. Fabulous coffee and Portuguese rolls etc :) How lovely on the last day of our holiday too. We were leaving at 4.30am and both John and Alberto were there to say goodbye. Can't wait to return.

Emplacements très bien, propre, immeuble l'année 50. Propriétaire sympa la salle de petit déjeuner sombre un peu austère.

Appena entrati nella struttura abbiamo notato un odore terribile di vecchio, la camera senza aria condizionata, con una sola luce molto bassa appesa, i letti terrificanti la moquette sporca, i cuscini molto piccoli e bassi, televisore appartenete ad un altra epoca senza telecomando. La camera si trovava affacciata sulla strada ed il rumore del trafico delle macchine era continuo. Il bagno non lo nemmeno visto perchè dopo 10 minuti che stavamo in quella camera siamo andati via per colpa dell'odore di vecchio pungente e le condizioni generali. Ho perso 135 euro per due notti ma di sicuro ho guadagnato in salute. Il figlio del proprietario ha voluto che pagassimo 8 euro di soggiorno anche se siamo andati via. Abbiamo pagato. Non raccomando questo hotel.

Una bella struttura in una zona centrale di funchal, molto tranquilla si dorme bene di notte. Gestita da una famiglia del posto che si sono dimostrati molto socievoli. Camera accogliente con un terrazzino dove si può ammirare un bel panorama. Colazione pagata €3 al giorno ed è ampiamente sufficiente per saziarsi

Prima hotel, klein en knus, loopafstand van het centrum. Familliehotel, eigenaren zijn zeer vriendelijk. Ze hebben een klein parking voor twee auto's en er is ook een groot parkeerterein in de buurt.

The host and his father made the stay more personal, welcoming and inviting. They took a personal interest in their guests. They added greatly to my stay. My room was clean and serviced daily. The area was conveniently located for tourist services and needs- food, supermarket, sights, airport bus, etc. Any limitations connected to the room related to this being an older building- smaller room, smaller bathroom, limited electrical plug-ins, no elevator- and could be expected in a character building such as this. The biggest limitation for the area was its proximity to a road- carrying a moderate amount of traffic and pedestrians- which had no sidewalks or shoulder. Stepping out of the unit meant stepping directly onto the road. For an older person- such as me- it was the least enjoyable part of my day getting to/from the accommodation. Obviously this was outside of the managements control.

Very welcoming hosts and it felt very homely. Well positioned in the old town. Nice breakfast.

Absolut charmantes Hotel unweit von der Seilbahn zum Monte. Das Haus wird von den Inhabern verwaltet und geführt. Herzlichkeit und familiäre Atmosphäre stehen im Mittelpunkt des Aufenthalts. Ein Inselaufenthalt in einem alten, wunderschönem Haus mit Holztreppen und wenigen Zimmern, kann ich sehr empfehlen. Zum Frühstück gibt es auf Wunsch frisches Rührei. Vom Balkon aus konnte ich Meer und Hafen sehen. Insgesamt ein sehr gelungener Aufenthalt. Ein bisschen, wie zu Hause.

I gestori Joao e suo figlio Umberto sono due persone straordinarie.

Umberto, Jon and his wife are very attentive, helpful and friendly, often going out of their way to help. Beautiful historic building is kept spotlessly clean and comfortable.

Diese Unterkunft müsste dringend renoviert werden, die Zimmer sind für einfachste Ansprüche ,ohne jeglichen Komfort ,zum Frühstück konnte man sich aussuchen , ob man entweder 2 Scheiben Käse oder Wurst oder aber 2 Spiegeleier haben möchte, der Gastgeber und sein deutschsprechender Sohn waren aber sehr hilfsbereit.

Sensacional a estadia! Pensão familiar em casa histórica no centro de Funchal. Imóvel antigo, porém bem cuidado e limpeza impecável!
