This hotel was beautiful and had so much character, even the staircase was ornate and a work of art. The rooms and bathrooms were spacious. We slept with the large windows open and were comfortable. We were immediately in the middle of everything one step out the door, shopping and restaurants were a 5-15 minute walk, the river was right in front of the hotel and there was plenty of room on the bridge to walk across and not be close to traffic, there were walking bridges also. Right outside the hotel was the Ness walk that went along the river and was not far from the islands. The Columba was a major part of our unique experience in Scotland, we did not travel that far to stay in an American hotel.

The room is nice and well equipped!
The breakfast was running out at 8:30am so we couldn’t get much. Not worth to buy breakfast if you get up after 8am.

Location excellent. Room was fine , bed very comfortable. Had elevator so did not have to carry luggage upstairs. Check in was fast and very welcoming.

location, heritage building, walkable, local dining options all good plus points, however, we had the only listed suite on the property and a few critical deficiencies noted , 1 the bed mattress was well past is usable comfortable life span (needs replacement), 2. claw foot tub is heritage interesting however the shower curtain did not extend into the tub thus leading to excessive water leaking onto the floor, 3. lastly, the ventilation for the washroom is non existant causing sewer like smell and humidity build up

First of all, I have no problems with old buildings. It has really a certain charme. My problem is, if important things like the shower head in the bath are not adjustable in the high, because it was broken and a very cheap solution. Don't understand why its not possible to install better quality. It also was not clean, found hairs everywhere in the bath and I really not searched for it. All in all, I can't recommend it, because the price is too high for what you get.

A run down hotel. The place just needs some money spent on it and I'm sure it could be a nicer place to stay. For instance their 'lounge' looks like something out of a post apocalyptic movie. Also there was little to no hot water available in our room. The manager on hand couldn't cope when I queried the issue, no anger from my part, just questions, and they got incredibly flustered...so I just left it. There were no other rooms available. For the price, really not a very nice experience.

Generally very tired. I was expecting much more for £200+ a night room. Our room with a view of the river had numerous cracked tiles on the bathroom floor, tired fixtures and fittings. Wallpaper peeling back, etc The cups in the breakfast room had rings round the inside, the area round the toaster was grubby and the air con units caked in dust. Staff on reception didn’t go out of their way to explain where the key areas are and on leaving not interested in asking about our stay, I’m sure they already knew the answer.

Very old hotel and could us some upgrades. The location was the nicest part of this hotel. The staff was not that friendly and the breakfast was not very good. Would not recommend this hotel.

The staff are attentive the location is very central however the hotel is very dated, was not the cleanest and needs urgent renovations. Housekeeping changes towels upon request however they only clean rooms every couple of days. The bar/restaurant is ok with great staff and friendly bartenders.

A part l'emplacement géographique qui est pratique pour visiter inverness en partie à pieds, et la literie qui était tres bien, l'accueil nous a donné de mauvais renseignement sur l'heure du repas ( on est d'ailleurs arrivé le chef avait deja fermé sa cuisine), le parking tres loin,et il manquait tout le nécessaire dans la salle de bain , hotel viellissant
