The room was lovely, the staff were great and the view was amazing! Only downside, the lift broke on our third day there and walking up 5 flights of stairs and back down with our luggage was unfortunate.

Beds were great and so comfy. Hotel was clean and breakfast was good. Be prepared to climb and flight of stairs with your luggage as reception is on the first floor (as is the lift). Overall would stay again.

The hotel is ideally situated opposite Waverley train station. The room was clean, comfortable and well decorated. There are lots of stairs and the lift was broken. The receptionist did carry our bag up. Breakfast was not included, and we were asked to pay on arrival at the restaurant. It was a buffet and was ok. When the lift was broken there was no signage, but we were told by the receptionist. On leaving the hotel later that evening people came down in the lift, but were blocked by a chair from exiting when the door opened. A member of staff told them it was broken and they shouldn’t have got in. There was no signage.

The location of this hotel is fantastic! Right by the train and bus station, near trams and bus stops. There is a Marks & Spencers really close by too. My room had the most amazing view of Scott Monument which I loved! The breakfast was decent. I have celiac disease and they offer GF toast and cereal (I'm also allergic to eggs so generally breakfast sucks for me anyways). The elevator is teeny tiny which made me laugh. I would stay at this hotel again but I would stay in a bigger room. I'm 5'9 and my bed was a bit short and small for me. Overall highly highly recommend this hotel!

We had one of the old rooms and it was very charming and had a lovely view of Edinburgh Castle. The breakfast was excellent. The dining room is stellar. I'm kind of sad that they are re-modeling. My traveling companions had a "new" room and it doesn't have the charm of the old one.

This is definitely an older hotel. Our room was large and the bathroom was well equipped with a shower bathtub that was huge. What sets this hotel apart is the great location. Walking distance to everything, including the royal mile, the train station and lovely park. I wish they had an ice machine so we didn't have to bug the bartender. Breakfast had real eggs to order. Yeah!!

The noise from the water in the bathroom above was intrusive. Shower, sink or toilet, the sound of the water coming down the pipes made it sound like it was in the room. Difficult to get to sleep and woke us up when we were asleep.
