Great stay at Hostal Mare Nostrum! The room and bathroom were clean, the staff were friendly, and the location was the highlight, right in the middle of La Rambla, making it easy to walk everywhere. It's perfect if you're after a clean, comfortable room in an unbeatable location.

We had booked three nights at this hotel. When we arrived in the room, it was as described, except that it was extremely hot inside because the staff wouldn't let us use the air conditioning without the room key inside. We stayed in the room for several hours with the key to activate the air conditioning, and the temperature still didn't drop. It must have been 35°C in the room. We reported the problem to the staff. We were with another family at reception complaining about the same issue: no cool air was coming from the vents. They moved us to a room on a lower floor to try and resolve the problem, but it didn't improve things. The family didn't want to stay, asked for a refund, and left late that night around 11 pm. We tried the room they offered us but had a terrible night. The next day, we found another hotel at the last minute (much more luxurious for less money) just a short walk away. The staff was always attentive and tried to help us, but their air conditioning was simply faulty. They seemed convinced it was working, I think to persuade us to stay. I simply believe that if you can't provide a proper air conditioner, don't mention it in the listing. We had spent more than our initial budget to get a room with air conditioning. It's dishonest to advertise it if you don't have it. If it was truly broken and normally works perfectly, these things happen, and we understand. But in this case, the staff never mentioned it.

Major issue had here was the rooms albeit clean are tiny and the hotel is set on controlling the A/C. Apparently the owner is set on keeping the temperature in the hotel and rooms above 82 degrees or 28 degrees Celsius. Every day was above 95 f so after sweating all day we had to return to a hot room. The room thermostat is irrelevant. Look it up the hotel and government are required to maintain a warmer temp in common areas - but totally false for your 300- plus euro a nite room! Spoke to the front desk 2x no help.

La habitación pequeña pero muy bien proporcionados los espacios. La atención muy buena, el lugar muy central de todo, cerca al metro, a avenidas principales. Nos gustó mucho en general.

Habitacion limpia y el hotel estaba muy bien unicado, con una estación de metro prácticamente enfrente.

Helpful and friendly staff. Clean rooms. Very cold AC and hot water, a plus in the Barcelona summer heat. Can't beat the location. At the heart of La Rambla. Walking distance to everything. Metro stop meters away from the hotel and plenty of shopping around. Recommended

Location was fantastic and Ivan was very welcoming and knowledgeable. We enjoyed our stay!

Pontos positivos: Localização imbatível: Fica muito perto da estação de metrô Liceu, o que facilita demais o deslocamento, principalmente se você estiver carregando malas. Equipe nota 10: Os atendentes são cordiais e prestativos. Café da manhã: Excelente custo-benefício. Custa €10 por pessoa e vale super a pena pelo que oferece. Pontos negativos: Quarto muito apertado: O tamanho do apartamento é super pequeno. Se você for uma pessoa alta/grande ou estiver com muitas malas, terá dificuldades para se acomodar. Banheiro problemático: O espaço é extremamente reduzido. A bacia sanitária e a pia ficam dentro do box, junto com o chuveiro. O grande problema é que, se você precisar usar o banheiro após o banho, o chão molhado vai ensopar a barra da sua roupa.

Hotel localizado no bairro gótico da cidade. A rua estava em obra, então estava muito barulho, chuveiro pequeno, banheiro pequeno e quarto pequeno. Para quem só quer dormir tomar um banho e economizar é o ideal. Mas para quem quer curtir um sono e curtir o hotel não é o lugar recomendado.

The staff was very helpful. Access to activities very good. Rooms are small but not too much of an issue if you are spending your time exploring.

Chambre propre, très bien située, à deux pas du métro sur les Ramblas. Le personnel est extrêmement accueillant, quelle que soit la personne rencontrée. Mention spéciale au jeune homme présent lors de notre arrivée, qui nous a indiqué un lieu très sympa à Montjuïc pour boire un verre et déguster des tapas avec vue sur Barcelone, et qui nous a fait découvrir le "tinto de verano."

Breakfast was ok. The same thing every day. The worst thing was the 24 stairs to the elevator. Got assistance on arrival, but had to lug our bags down on departure

Breakfast was excellent. Building dated.Need to walk up 4 flights of stairs to reception. Elevator started on that floor.. Room was small but clean. In a great location.

Personale gentile camera pulita, colazione poca scelta, posizione strategica

El barrio ramblas es central pero es muy peligroso , el hostal tiene escaleras y si llevas maleta no te lo ayudan a subir, el señor mayor es un poquito grosero. Pero el desayuno es muy rico y variado, la habitación estuvo cómoda y limpia. Y la ubicación queda cerca de los sitios turísticos aunque es peligrosa la zona.
