The location for me was perfect, a little bit outside Leshoto center. You can walk there or find someone to drive you there. It is a quiet place and relatively clean for Tanzanian standards. I love it because is surrounded but nature you can hear the birds chirping. And at night is a bit chilly but they provide blankets. The price is fair which includes breakfast. The hostel is run by the nuns there who are really friendly and helpful. The can cook for you lunch or dinner and still the price is good and the food tasty. Is not a luxurius place nor modern. But me, personaly I liked it and I would definitely go back.
I was in the area for the IASE conference at SEKOMU University. The hostel is well maintained with beautiful grounds. They made us feel very welcome and it was a pleasure to stay there.
I stayed 2 nights in the St. Eugene hostel.
Sisters are in charge of the area and they make a brilliant job. Also the guy at the reception. Always kind, helpful and never shy to have a short conversation. The rooms are fantastic. Clean, big and very good price.
The food is delicious. I had breakfast and once diner.
I regret that I haven’t been able to stay longer in Lusotho. There are so many things to do.
If I come back to Usambara region, I will definitely stay again at St Eugenes but this time at least 4 nights!
Asante sanaa!
