Two stars, and the only reason it isn’t one is the staff, who were genuinely excellent.
Little else matched what Hotels.com promised, or the price I paid. Internet is listed at 50mbps+. I got 10. Reception issued a voucher that got up to 25 (still half the listing), and it wouldn’t connect to Teams anyway, so it was useless. I ended up buying extra data from my own carrier just to get any work done.
Rooms are advertised as soundproofed. They are not. I could hear the neighbours arrive, leave and argue in full detail, and with the windows shut I was still woken at 9am by the construction site and the school next door.
Room service has a few signature dishes; I tried three. All below average, all overpriced.
The room was barely lit, just two bedside lamps and nothing else. The safe was faulty: someone fixed it, and it broke again the next day.
The two daily bottles of water never arrived, and at checkout I was asked whether I’d requested them from reception. I shouldn’t have to.
The bathroom was the low point. Low on the wall beside the shower, the paint and filler had cracked and crumbled clean off, exposing bare tile and black staining behind it. It looked like water damage patched over and left to rot. Not what I expected to find here.
I was offered a room change and declined, having already settled in and not wanting the hassle. The staff did their best with what they were given, but the hotel simply isn’t worth the price.
