Met a new friend from the UK in my comfortable room at the Generator DC.

We were able to stay comfortably, and appreciate the friendly attitude of the staff. Just for information, as of April 30, 2025, this property does not have a shared microwave. There are no hairdryers in the rooms, but you can borrow them at the front desk anytime (24/7).

I liked the location, although parking was challenging and expensive. I liked my room, although there were odd quirks, such as no drinking glasses or ironing board in the room. The rooms nearby were noisy late into the night. But I really liked the staff. I would stay there again if I didn’t have a car with me.

The beds was super comfortable and overall new furniture just that breakfast was little expensive and not that great although nearby food joints were really good !

We had a nice time, room was sufficient and comfortable. It was loud and disruptive at night.

1st, the location is fantastic near Dupont Circle, Kalorama and Adams Morgan. Old bathtub but comfortable to take a bath. Older mid-century building means big room and quiet. Edgy decor, nice bed and dog-friendly!

Nice and safe area close to a lot of shops, restaurants, and beautiful houses.

Generally good. About 15 minutes walk to the closest metro.

A beautiful hotel with a nice restaurant and cafe, but I had a terrible experience with the thermostat in my room that left both me and my fiance without sleep when we stayed. The first night we stayed there we could not sleep because of how hot it was in our room. We set the ac to the lowest setting. I called the front desk for help at 4AM, and they said they would look into it the next day. The next day I asked them to look into it when leaving the hotel. The following night it was even worse than the first night in regards to the heat. I called again, and they said they didn’t have anyone at that hour who could fix it. I payed $600 literally for us to just sleep there, and we got no sleep! And, it seemed like no one ever looked into it.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Generator with the friendly and helpful staff and roommates. Thanks.

Bathrooms are outdated and tub needs cleaning and shower mats need to be replaced. Black scum around shower mats. They do not remove shower mats between guest. Overpriced for quality

This is a dormitory style hotel. My family of four was in a dormitory that slept four people, that is to say that there were no available beds for another party. We were very unpleasantly startled by someone who claimed to be “security” who entered our room without notice at 2am! My kids were so scared that we checked out a night early. Sadly, the hotel was cute in a unique way and the kids were loving the bunk beds but this unexpected visitor which could not be explained was so off putting that we left.

Wasn’t anything to write home about and they tried to give me a hostel when I paid for a hotel and said it would cost me extra to put me on a room that I paid for other than that it was fine nothing special the service seemed kinda mid and the lack of communication was appalling

The generator was a unique and great place to stay for a reasonable price during a conference that I had at the Omni Shoreham. I appreciate it having a king room for myself. The staff was friendly and helpful.

I always stay at The Generator when I visit DC. The staff and the property is wonderful. Close to metro, excellent coffee shop.

I didn’t like the fact that the space was shared with a random stranger. This should be made absolutely clear during the reservation period. I’ve never had such an experience before so it was difficult adjusting to being in a shared space.

5.8 dollar facility fee charged at the front desk. Bathroom is dirty

The rooms were okay. Elevator service was excellent
