Howard Johnson by Wyndham Virginia Beach At The Beach

This was a last minute decision and the only place that wasn’t sold out on a holiday weekend. I’ll start with the cons There’s so much potential for this place. It is in a great location just across the street from the beach. They need a better cleaning staff. Upon arrival there were random hairs on the toilet. The end tables are peeling. We stayed 2 nights and no one cleaned the room on the 2nd day. The sink drains extremely slow. The AC looks like someone was chewing on it, worked surprisingly well. The AC works so well we were freezing the first night. We requested an additional blanket through their text message app which we never received. Shower curtain had mold on the bottom. The breakfast is not a breakfast it’s more like snacks. The tv volume had to be at max in order to hear it. The good: Location Parking was easy

Rude staff, no place to hang your wet clothes, refusal to provide enough towels for guests to shower. Screaming like a maniac about hanging wet laundry on the banister outside. Horribly small parking lot. The literal only good thing about this property is it’s a 45 second walk to the beach.

Good location, walk across the street to the beach. The provided breakfast is a joke, it's snacks and coffee. The towels were stained, no hand soap for sink, some shower supplies were empty upon arrival, the bathroom light flickered with a sketchy caulked outlet. Fortunately we were only using the room for snacking and sleeping.

Overall, my stay was fine. The AC unit was a bit louder than expected and the people hanging out in the staircase which was by the room was annoying.

We were disappointed with the room. Gentleman at desk walked us to our room so he could spray deodorizer before we entered. Shower curtain had mold on it & floors were so dirty our feet were black. Husband had to locate housekeeping so we could get more towels (there was only 1 bath towel, 2 hand towels, 2 washcloths). Office was locked on several occasions that you were unable to get a cup of coffee. After talking to other visitors they all had the same complaints

Overall the facility was clean. The beds were soft and comfortable.

The front office staff of this hotel is very rude and not very accommodating. The property itself is clean enough for what it is. Don’t expect anything over the top. As for the staff…housekeeping and maintenance were great. I’d give them 5 stars. The front office staff, not so much. I am a disabled veteran with a service dog. They demanded to see his paperwork. Look at the ADA.gov website…you cannot demand paperwork. He was in a vest, clearly labeled Service Dog. He was working and sitting calming by my side through all of the drama at the front desk…worse case, my wife and her friend were the ones staying here. My son and the dog were camping a few miles away. One of the evenings my wife was there, we witnessed the front staff in a verbal argument with another guest in the parking lot. Yelling and screaming, almost going to blows. Unprofessional, disrespectful and downright rude. Regardless, no one from my family will be staying here again, ever.

Clean and tidy room. Very comfortable stay and rate.

Room was filthy, roaches, no TV, towels were stained and lighting fixtures didn't work.

The staff is very negligent people. We came in and the TV was on and the floors was dirty. We inspected the bed and it was still dirty, the towels has dark marks on it, someone’s nail clipping on the sink. We asked for room service and they told us, you just checked in it won’t be clean in 3 days. We told them to clean it off because it was disgusting. They said room service will be in the morning. Came back and guess what they only clean the trash bag and changed the towels to more towels that is dirty. They keep claiming it was clean. The towel has poop stains on it. Never again. Left. Look at the photos.

Absolutely Disgusting Do Not Stay Here This place was an absolute nightmare. The photos online are completely misleading this hotel is filthy and run-down. From the moment we walked in, it was clear this was not what we were promised. The front desk staff was incredibly rude. There were three of us, and they only provided two towels. When we asked for another, the man at the front desk acted like we were bothering him and flat-out refused at first. We had to press him just to explain how three people were supposed to share two towels and even then, he showed zero concern or courtesy. The next day, we didn’t even get any wash rags they said they were “out.” How does a hotel run out of basic essentials? This place is a complete catfish. The only reason we stayed both nights was because the stay was non-refundable. We couldn’t check out fast enough. Save yourself the trouble I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone, not even my worst enemy.

I would not recommend for anyone with kids or a family

CLEAN AND QUIET

This place was gross. The one staff member was rude. The room didn't even have a number on it. There was not soap for the sink. It had a bad smell.

This was a great stay, I always enjoy this hotel. The staff is awesome, accomidating and friendly. I love the smell of the room. The location is perfect because you're close to everything. I definitely recommend if your looking for a great price to enjoy your time.

Worst hotel stay ever. Place was disgusting. Staff locks office and comes and goes as they please. Had to be switched to a different room cause of maintenance issues and no staff at office. Other guests kept me up all night. And playing music full volume fom there car starting at 7 am all morning right infeont of staff in parking lot and they didnt care. We will never stay at another howard Johnson again. Worst experience every

We were not allowed to check in. Room was paid and We had a receipt but they refused to check is in.
