The gardens

The founders Inn is a beautiful hotel located in Virginia Beach. The landscaping has always given me that ah moment. The rooms are clean and the water is hot! Never did make it to the pool, but it is right outside of my room when I go. I love that the spa is on site and that there is an amazing restaurant that not only offers dining but room service. As an event planner, I absolutely love the fact that you can do weddings and vow renewals at this property.

Great hotel

No Clock in room, no microwave in room. We were on 2nd floor, 1 microwave 1st floor only very inconvenient, No free breakfast, Restaurant food mediocre :(

Highly recommended

It is very picturesque. The rooms, buildings and surrounding area are very tranquil. The bed was very comfortable, but the pillows left a lot to be desired. They were fluffy, but as soon as you head was on them (2 pillows), you were completely flat on the bed and could feel the bed below. Nathan was very helpful. He answered many of our questions. The water pressure was lower than we are accustom, but it was not a terrible shower experience. The pool attendant and life guard (female) were very informative, and helpful. It is a shame that the supervisors only have one lifeguard on for such a large pool. The one was very diligent, but the pool is too big for just one person.

Overall the property is beautiful and very quiet. We enjoyed our stay very much. The only issue we had was the rooms and floors are outdated. Mattress was not comfortable. Would we stay again? Absolutely. We recommend it!

My lady and i had a great time. Everything was what i expected. A 3 day get away that i will never forget. Location was less than 30 min from all attractions.

Beautiful to walk and explore

I’ve been a loyal guest of The Founders Inn and Spa for many years, frequently staying here while visiting my children in college. My experiences have always been pleasant, until my most recent visit from 5/16–18 for my daughter's college graduation.Unfortunately, this stay was disappointing and far below the standard I’ve come to expect. During my visit, a large dog show was being held on the property. As a result, the atmosphere was chaotic and unpleasant. Campers, RVs, and travel vans filled the parking lot, with dog kennels and large trash bags filled with feces occupying vacant spots. The odor was overwhelming, and dog waste was visible around the grounds, significantly detracting from the beauty and cleanliness that the property is known for.Many of the guests associated with the event were rude and confrontational. I was yelled at for pulling into a public parking space that someone had apparently reserved for camping. Numerous parking spots were blocked off with orange cones, seemingly claimed by dog show participants, leaving other guests with no convenient parking options.To make matters worse, dogs were allowed in guest rooms, and many barked throughout the night, resulting in sleepless nights during what should have been a special and relaxing occasion.I understand that dog shows may be part of the resort’s calendar, but the way this particular event was managed made it feel more like a kennel than a peaceful inn and spa.

I am writing to express my deep disappointment with my recent stay at this hotel. I was unaware at the time of booking that a dog show was taking place on the premises during my visit. As someone with allergies to dogs, this was a significant concern and made my stay very uncomfortable. I brought this issue to the attention of the manager on duty, hoping for a reasonable solution or at least some understanding. Unfortunately, the manager was dismissive and unconcerned about my situation. When I suggested that such events should be clearly noted on your website, I was told it wasn’t possible to display that information online-an unacceptable response given critical it is for guests with health issues to plan accordingly. I was already exhausted from travel when I arrived and, with no other options, had to stay. I did moved to a slightly better room, and I want to extend my appreciation to Grace at the front desk, who was courteous and helpful despite being new. While I had hoped for a relaxing birthday getaway that included a spa experience, the overall stay did not meet my expectations. I would like to sincerely thank Megan Terrell, the message therapist, who provided exceptional service and was the highlight of my visit. However the hotel rooms are in need of serious upgrades, and the dining experience was underwhelming as well. Overall, my stay was disappointing and frustrating. I DO NOT PLAN TO RETURN nor can I recommend this hotel to others. Health is serious issue take

Tis place is amazing. Room was super clean, and the property was very quiet and relaxing. The breakfast bar was set up well with a great variety of items. The staff everywhere were really nice and super helpful. Would highly recommend.

They need to learn what the don’t disturb tag means. Had four knocks on my door when trying to nap. Also had someone open the door when I was in bed

I liked the convenience in location. I didn't like that when I called for shower gel, didn't come. Additional calls for room service were severely delayed/not responded to.

Absolutely Beautiful this is my 3rd visit everyone has been great.

One of the best pet friendly hotels we have stayed. I wish they had a small kitchenette or at least a microwave.
