It’s conveniently located

Very quaint old hotel. They have definitely tried to update it but it’s pretty bare bones. The large double shower was a nice surprise. Has a kitchen and small fridge but no cutlery or cooking implements included. Really great hotel if you’re only visiting downtown Victoria and walking everywhere. Parking was off site at the Bay Centre and I had to drive around that parking lot to find a space as it’s quite busy most days. Overall, a good stay.

Very convenient place!

Room #15 was clean and inviting, but lacked a closet or a hanging rack area where we could hang our clothes. Only one chair in our double queen room. The curtains hung over the A/C unit restricting air flow, so we had to pin the right hand side up to get full air flow. Didn't like the view into the opposite room that was some 12 ft. away. The shower head was far too high for my wife, so we had to leave it in the hanging position. If se was on her own, she would have to have assistance and ask the staff to remove it. There were no beside lights or clocks, so we had to use the main lights all the time. Staff in general were pleasant and helpful. A/C unit window mounted was working as expected. Good selection of shops, restaurants/cafe's close by. Hotel does not have restaurant and not mentioned when we checked in. Parking options are available a short walk away. The photos that show the rooms are nothing like the one we stayed in. Very disappointed with Expedia and the Bedford Inn. This is the first time I have ever, in my world travel have had to write such disappointments.

Staff was nice. The only thing I didn’t appreciate is knocking on the door in the morning and we had place don t disturb on our door!

- Great location, near restaurants, shops and walking distance to tourists attractions. - Clean and maintained rooms and bathrooms - Heritage building and currently under renovation including the Reception area. - Hotel Reception is not in the ground floor so it’s confusing for 1st time guests. No visible sign for instructions. - Rooms facing the streets can be very noisy especially at night and during weekends or events. - Comparable priced accommodations maybe able to provide better amenities like pools & included breakfast.

Th only positive aspect was the location. Although hotel is going through some light renovations (paint), the rooms could be tremendously improved. Ours did not have hand soap, no lamps on nightstands, the AC was a portable unit with exhaust going to a window with a very poor insulation design (duct tape) and the unit was very loud. Ok for 1 night, but won’t be coming back for sure. Pictures shown on website do not reflect what the real facility actually looks like. A lot to improve.

Building is falling apart and desperately needs repair. The harbor view windows are covered with chain link fence that is holding the building together. Our top floor corner room also showed signs of seperation in one of the corners

Central downtown Victoria location. Professional and warm staff. The place is a bit old, but the are doing renos and our room was clean. Highly recommended due to location and price of stay. Will come back again!

It's a great location close to food and shopping, but it's also downtown so parking was a pain to find since the 2 spots supposedly for hotel checking were taken when we arrived. The property is old and quaint, but could definitely use some updating. The finish on the tub was peeling up, and a lot of wear and tear on finishes in the room. It seemed to be clean, and the bed was okay. If you're looking for a great location close to everything downtown, this is the place to be, just be prepared for worn carpets and don't plan on spending a lot of time in the room, but instead be out and about.

Very noisy air conditioner, check-in receptionist could be more pleasant.

Great staff

The staff were so welcoming and helpful. I felt good as soon as I arrived. The location is perfect. Right in the heart of the historic downtown area. Only a few blocks and from both the Empress Hotel and the Parliament building. You can see them as soon as you walk out of the hotel. It's also right next to the original Murchie's tea which was fun. The room was cute and clean. Not fancy but perfect for what I wanted. Beds were comfy. Air Conditioning worked great. Amazing value for the price. I would highly recommend it for anyone wanting a budget friendly motel with a perfect location. Thanks!

We stayed here to 2 nights, mid-week in July. The location is AMAZING for easy walkability downtown Victoria. The hotel is older, which is fine. We showered and slept there, that was it. Government Street is closed off (pedestrian only) from 12-10. So parking near the hotel to unload our suitcase was tricky, but we managed. It was frustrating actually. There are a lot of one way streets to maneuver. We managed to get close enough. We parked our car in the lot discounted by the hotel for 2 nights. We were able to walk everywhere else. We took the bus to Craigdarroch castle & back to Phillips Brewery, from there it was a short walk back to the hotel. The bus was easy to navigate with Google Maps, it came by every 15 minutes or so. The hotel is in a FANTASTIC location. The front desk of the hotel is on the 2nd floor. That was strange. There is no signage on the front door. That was also strange. You have to look up to read the awning. The women at the front desk was dry and hated her job. She got the job done, but we got zero smiles from her. The man at the front desk at check out was quite pleasant. The room was clean. The bed was comfortable. It had a double shower, TV, AC, mini fridge. Everything we needed. The location and the price for that area were great. We would absolutely stay here again.

Clean room but greatly in need of updating. Wallpaper was coming loose. A lot of signs of wear overall. Bed was comfortable though. Location was convenient but that also came with noise. I would have liked a heads up regarding the remodeling in progress. I was surprised of the price given the maintenance situation.

Room had a full garbage can so it was never emptied from the last guests. Room was also pretty over priced for 2 night
