The bathroom smelled strongly of urine so we told the staff at reception on our way back from dinner. The staff gave us some spray to use which was not effective. We spoke to the cleaning staff in the morning who said they would wash the floor with bleach. This did not happen. The room smelled like a urinal for the entire time we were there. The restaurant meal was disappointing, the side dish of rosemary potatoes we ordered was bland and tasteless. There was a high pitched noise for most of the time we were there which was unpleasant and made going to sleep difficult Our breakfast on the first morning was cold by the time we got it. The power went out on the day we left, so could not even have a shower in the morning. While we were still able to have breakfast, we could not have coffee. This was the only weekend my partner and I will be able to have this year due to family commitments. We had been looking forward to a relaxing and romantic weekend away. What a disappointment! We won't be going back. The staff said that there was no way they could compensate us for the poor experience we had, even though they acknowledged that the smell in the room was dreadful!
