Far from railway station

Beautiful hotel and very nice bathroom, bed was comfortable. Quiet environment and around 20 mins walk to city centre. Only thing is we have big luggage but there is no lift.

Everything was really nice and we enjoyed our stay. Rooms were nicely decorated and had a very cosy feel. Perfect pick for visiting the racecourse too. Only downer was the food lorry delivery at 5:55am outside our window that was ridiculously noisy. Went on til 6:35am and there was no chance of going back to sleep. Didn’t bank on waking earlier than I have to normally whilst enjoying a treat away from home. Eating in the restaurant was good but several options were unavailable on the menu and the only white wine they had in stock was Chardonnay. I think both problems were just bad luck for us. Would still recommend.

Dining service was rather slow on the first day, food was ok but I'd expected better for the cost of the hotel so on our second day we went elsewhere (very nice Thai food in town so definitely worthwhile).

Nice looking property with decent facilities. Friendly helpful staff. Room was dusty in places. Full English was overcooked.

A very beautiful hotel in close proximity to the historic wall. But far enough away that you’re not surrounded by other tourists. Our room was clean and we loved the design and decor.

This is a unique hotel In a good area and close to the town centre 10 minute walk. The restaurant was limited and not very inspiring and the bar was not well stocked but breakfast was great.

The decor is amazing, wonderful to see it all still in situ. Bed comfortable, staff friendly and helpful.

Room was modern , clean and fully equipped. Fridge ,safe iron. Coffee/tea tray . Shower was good. Parking was ok for us as we got there early. Not sure it can accommodate the number of rooms . Staff were really helpful .

The property is immaculate throughout. Very tastefully renovated. The history of the property was very interesting. All of the staff were fabulous, especially Ria, Freya and the bar/breakfast staff. The Hotel wasn't too far out. A 15/20 minute walk to the City Walls. I would definitely recommend a stay, we will be back.

Beautiful hotel, well worth the 15 min walk from town centre. Fabulous art nouveau decor, huge bathroom, lovely breakfast buffet.

Beautiful hotel! My room, the Knavesmire Attic Suite in the Lodge building, was spectacular. The bathroom puts my bathroom at home to great shame. Friendly faces and smiles at reception, too. Thank you!

I never went had to go a week earlier went to the Yorkway Mitel which was superb value for money never rebooked at this hotel as a week earlier coincided with the York Races Festival and prices were double so booked elsewhere

The hotel was very nice. Room was very clean and a lovely size for the two nights stay. Food was very good, with an excellent choice at breakfast and evening meal. Staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful.
