My go to Hotel in Montreal

Very nice location for 1st time travels as we were just across from McGill University and a very direct route to the Mount Royal lookout (lots of steps). Although we didn’t do much via the hotel amenities, it was unfortunate the hotel pool area was out of order! This is a decently dated hotel in terms of rooms but we did have plenty of space for a 2bedroom suite (basically 3 connecting rooms) and that was perfect for our family of 4! Would recommend primarily for the location and need it essential space! Definitely would have enjoyed if there were newer amenities or upgrades to the property!

Excellent location. Warm welcome. Room overlooking the mountain was large and very comfortable. Bathroom not modernized but very clean and perfectly adequate.

I thought I would try a more up-scale hotel than usual on this trip to Montreal, but on the whole I was disappointed. (1) check-in: I arrived at 5pm and I was told my room was ready, but I'd have to wait while it was "verified" -- that took 10-15 minutes, which was OK, but not my idea of luxury. (2) room: large, but a bit worn. The front legs were missing from the mini-fridge. One of the upholstered chairs smelled faintly of vomit when I sat in it. The bed was comfortable. (3) check-out: there was a line to check out at 6am. Unpleasant surprise: a $20-per-night "destination fee" was due on checkout, in addition to the advertised rate. I see it is disclosed in the fine print at the time of booking; however, since it is not optional (unlike parking, or a late checkout charge) I would expect it to be part of what expedia quotes as the total.

This property is well-located on Sherbrook. The rooms are spacious and clean, and the staff is exceptionally nice and helpful. The reason I give four stars and not five is that the property is definitely showing its age. In-room furniture, the bathroom, carpets and walls are due for a refresh. The HVAC worked intermittently, but its malfunction did not rise to the level of calling for help. Another little detail is that the bedside clock had an Apple 30-pin connector for iPods and iPhones last sold in 2011. No big deal, but it gives you an idea of the last time anything was updated. I would rate the breakfast room in the lobby similarly: perfectly clean and ready for business, but not up to 2026 standards. To be fair, all this is reflected in the room rate, which was a bit lower than competing properties. With these caveats, I would still recommend a stay due to the reasonable rate, the location and the top-notch staff.

Room was clean and spacious

I’ll start by saying the staff here are absolutely amazing! They are the genuine reason I stay at this property and the service is truly top-tier. The location is also fantastic, and I really enjoyed the gym. However, while the rooms are spacious, the property itself is incredibly dated and feels subpar for the price paid. The maintenance issues were the biggest drawback. My room felt old, and because the walls and doors are so thin, you can hear everything in the hallways. The bidet in my room had a constant, annoying drip, and the toilet in the gym was broken, meaning I had to go all the way back up to my room just to use the bathroom during a workout. Even worse, my friend's room had a leak on the floor, so we had to keep our shoes on the whole time I was visiting him. The logistics were also a hassle. Since room keys only grant access to your specific floor, we couldn't easily visit each other. We either had to meet at the lobby and go back up together, or I’d have to walk up 10 flights of stairs. It was also a letdown that the pool and hot tub were closed during my stay. If you’re looking for a hotel with a great location and world-class service, this is a solid choice. But if you want a place that feels fresh, clean, and fully functional, you might be disappointed.

Beautiful and central hotel with large, spacious rooms and a lovely breakast available to 11am at the Le Petit Opus cafe.
