The people are nice. Food is descent. Hotel itself is charming. Reception stuff is great, Bartender is lovely. Spa was not a good experience. Unfortunately the people who work there are not good at the massage technique. A senior woman was a bit better but kept scratching me with her nails and sometimes would pull skin the way proper masseuse would not. The newish woman, was shown technique but doesn't understand body at all. Housekeeping was a bit weird. They took the key for our room, disappeared with it and never actually cleaner the room. Love the building itself and the location.

Perfect all round

Fantastic hotel. Staff are really friendly. They treated our daughter to a chocolate bar for her birthday. The pantry of treats for guests is fantastic too. The rooms are lovely. The food is great. A great atmosphere. We will be back.

An awesome boutique hotel. Perfect rooms, friendly, professional staff, great location. Couldn’t be bettered.

Assigned a room in the attic, with low ceilings and what could only be described as quirky fitments abd amenities. The room was on the front and side of the hotel, so was very noisy from traffic and service vehicles. We were only sleeping there, as we had engagements in the city, so didn't have the opportunity to use the hotel amenities. I don't think that we will return.

Nice quick checkin, shown to pantry to see the range of free nibbles and drinks on offer throughout our stay and then to our room; compact, lovely features, like the dolls house drinks centre, the record player (with LPs and a library downstairs if the ones in the room didn't excite). The hotel has a grand entrance and is very relaxed, some may say bohemian; dark walls, interesting features throughout, lovely bright and comfortable lounge, all in all very good value and only a short walk to the centre of York along a wide avenue-style road, past a park and your first tourist sight is the minster.

Great room and overall property, hearty breakfast and fantastic staff!!! Everyone was so welcoming and helpful! And the best was how dog friendly the place was. Would definitely stay again if going to York. Totally recommended!! Loved it!

The accommodation was truly fabulous and exceeded all expectations. The service provided by the staff was exceptionally warm and attentive throughout our stay. Furthermore, the overall ambiance and charm of the guest house itself created a wonderfully memorable experience. Cannot criticise anything during our short break. It was excellent from start to finish. All of the staff were perfect and the hotel was a pleasure to stay at.

Unique boutique hotel with quirky features

Room was clean. Awkward check-in experiences with a large desk. It was nice having someone bring us to the room and shown us everything. Good lighting in bathroom.

The decor of the room was great and the suite had exactly what we needed.

The hotel is really lovely and has so many lovely personal touches that makes it feel like a home from home. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The breakfasts are great and the bed is so comfortable.

The hotel was really nice, however it was just really noisy. The wooden floors without the right insulation enable all the noise from the room upstairs to be hear when some walks etc. our room was the one on the ground floor near reception and the constants noise form thenkitcrh/ dinning area, car park etc made it into a rather disappointing stay. A shame as the room was beautiful, although tired in places still beautifully decorated.
