Very nice hotel and service, but horrible gym (with non working equipment)

Very nice place to stay

Das Intercontinental zählt zu den besten Hotels in Almaty, die Zimmer sind aber leider stark abgenutzt und das Inventar einschließlich völlig vergilbter Telefone aus den 90er Jahren mindestens zwanzig Jahre alt. Angesichts des Zustandes sind die Übernachtungspreise von rund €400 nicht zu rechtfertigen. Auch das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis der Gastronomie ist schlecht.

Staff is very friendly

Comfortable clean property. Not far from the centre but need to take a taxi or car to go anywhere.

Kamers zijn oud en gedateerd. Bijvoorbeeld geen stopcontact bij bed.

Cleanliness of the room very approximate. the room hasn't been vacuumed in 15 days... I was not identified as an ambassador. I had to claim my benefits as a Diamond Elite Ambassador.

Overall the stay was very good. The receptionists and concierge were very helpful, and the gym was very clean and with new machines and a nice pool. My only criticism is that the bar in the lobby is understaffed and service could be slow, and if one wasn’t sitting near the bar, very slow. It needs more than one person working there all the time. Otherwise, the hotel overall provides a great service and the staff are all very helpful and kind.

The hotel definitely needs to be renovated. Teams have to be retrained. This is definitely not a 5-star hotel and it is sad to see it being a part of the Intercontinental?Perfect family.
