I was unable to check in because the room was not cleaned. The solutions provided were illogical, as I was required to pay out of my own pocket for the night in another hotel, as well as for transportation, and then request a reimbursement the following day. All of this without any formal or physical documentation, as they did not have official letters bearing their logo. After four and a half hours, I was offered solutions directly by Hotels.com, and they corroborated the situation by contacting those responsible for it. I must point out that this was going to be my first visit to the city and my first time staying at the Meliá hotel chain. However, I doubt my company, my family, and I will ever stay there again.

I am writing to share my unfortunate experience at the Meliá Tatuapé on Thursday, December 12, 2024, which occurred during my check-in at approximately 9:20 PM. Upon my arrival, I found the entrance area vacant, except for one employee at the front desk wearing a name tag that read, “Hendell - Trainee.” He was engaged in a telephone conversation, which concluded after about five minutes with a “beijo” (kiss in Portuguese). During this time, I waited patiently but grew increasingly uncomfortable due to a large ventilator behind the desk that directed a perfumed scent towards me. The scent, reminiscent of a cheap, all-purpose cleaner, caused my eyes to sting and water. Pressed for time and already unsettled, I was further disappointed when Hendell, who had seen me pacing for several minutes, finally addressed me. He located my reservation and informed me of the charges. To my surprise, the amount was higher than the price I had booked via Expedia, where the listing clearly stated that all taxes and fees were included. When I questioned the discrepancy, Hendell insisted on a “voucher” from Expedia. I explained that I only had an “itinerary” and struggled to access it on my phone due to my watering eyes. I requested that he verify the information directly on the Expedia webpage, which explicitly displayed the room rate as inclusive of all charges. Unfortunately, Hendell refused to acknowledge this and continued to demand a voucher. After 15 min, my patience wore thin, I left.

Since 2014 I’ve stayed at the former TRYP, now Meliá Hotel! The hotel is very nice and quiet. The neighborhood is very nice, with plenty to local shops and a 15 minute walk down to the Tatuapé Mall! The rooms are very nice and the staff very friendly and helpful! I highly recommend that Hotel!

The hotel was very nice and very clean. The restaurant had many options and the food was very good. The only thing I was disappointed about, was the pool. I like to spend a lot of time by the pool and meet other people and enjoy the sun. The pool is extremely small and nobody uses it. My only complaint and I am still working on this, I paid cash for almost every meal at the hotel and then when I was checking out late at night, after the restaurant had already closed, I noticed on my bill they had charged at least four dinners to my account, which I paid for in cash. I am still trying to work this out, but this left me with a bad impression.

Hotel limpo, quarto confortável e bem localizado para quem necessita estar na Zona Leste de São Paulo. O café da manhã começam a servir às 7:00 am, portanto incoerente com um hotel para negócios em São Paulo, onde neste horário você provavelmente necessita já estar a caminho de um compromisso

Seeing the hotel property was good enough. Checking in was even better. Igor was friendly and attentive. I wish I could personally thank him for an incredibly helpful receptionist and easing so much of stress coming into 13-hour layover. He added to the positive first impression I had of the São Paulo Tatuapé. Being in this hotel, overall, made my day, if not my whole trip. I was head-over-heels in love with my room. It was big and spaceous. I loved that the fridge was stocked with Brazilian beverages, too, and there were treats available. It's incredibly sad that I stayed there on a layover. I wish I had more time in this amazing property.

It was perfect except the 7:30am call we got asking if anything was going on in the room. Apparently an alarm went off, though we have no idea what it was, we were alseep when the call came in.

I booked this room for my parents, the premium triple room was big enough for three people to stay, spacious and comfortable. The only com they made was, the curtain should be darker, like a black out curtain. Breakfast was good and service good too.

This is based in my room only: I travel a lot and stay in many range of rooms around the world, I stayed on standard room because I got a deal from hotels.com and I must say, it was standard of standard room. Bed linen not fitting in the bed properly, no duvet cover or blanked covering the bed (I never saw a bed in standard room not be covered with a blanket or duvet) it had only had a bedsheet. No black out curtain. I prefer a very dark room as I like to sleep late. Room very spacious. Breakfast was good enough for a continental. Staff was very good. Would I go back to this hotel? On a standard room, no. My parents stay on superior room which was good.
