The hotel has recently been refurbished but still has the ‘old’ side which you can select the room for stay if you are interested in this historic experience. Those rooms will be available for cheaper prices as well. I chose to stay at the ‘newer’ side for my accommodation this time as they are usually more comfortable for a good night sleep. I was correct and the room looks amazing and spacious too! What a wonderful refurbishment with great designs. Staff were also very helpful and friendly with the hospitality service. Their breakfast or dining area seems lovely although I took it outside instead as there’s so much to do and eat outside the hotel as well. I would loved to stay here once again if I come round for a visit once again.

Hotel was very quiet as it was a Sunday - it is also currently being renovated - I wasn’t offered a refurbished room until I asked specifically if any were available after I had already checked in. Old room was very dated, had a creaky floor, tap dripping and whistling extractor fan in bathroom. I’m not sure if the newer room we had was same grade as much smaller room size and double rather than king size bed. Decor much better and bathroom nice. Breakfast buffet was poor, my partner gave the full English 3/10 - quite a small portion served. machine coffee like dishwater - not proper filter coffee. Service was good but there were less than 10 people dining so not sure how it would be on a busy day with one staff member. Plus point was free parking and only 10 minute walk into town. Would maybe go back when renovations completed.

Toilet had to pump handle to get it to flush, sink didn't drain quickly so obviously blocked . Should have been picked up by anyone cleaning the room. 1 plug socket and no where near bed. coffee machine at breakfast constantly needed maintainance by staff - saying needed cleaning so didn't enjoy coffee knowing that. hopefully all these issues will be resolved after the upgrade - didnt bother the staff on sunday as had to get to work and upgrade already in progress.

Restaurant was closed but we were assured a full menu would be served in the renovated bar. Only fish and chips, hamburgers, curry, no beer (only Peroni!!) and the bar was empty and soulless. Not how we imagined our celebration with friends would be We complained but the General Manager was only contactable by email. He still has not replied. The hotel is not nearly as grand and welcoming as advertised. There are better places to stay in Canterbury.

Clean comfortable room. Excellent location for walking into the city. The young woman working the bar, and covering reception, was exceptional in customer care.

Nicely refurbished rooms but no heat in the room so was given a small space heater?? Then mid afternoon the music started beneath us, we were told by the front desk the party would finish between 5-6pm. At 7pm it was still going strong. Music so loud no TV could drown it out and the floor vibrated. We asked to be moved, which was accommodated but only to a smaller queen size room (we had a king) - no compensation and no apologies. Would not stay again.

Not the greatest hotel. Paper thin walls, the double bed seemed extra small, terrible pillows, the shower didn’t drain & the temperature was very difficult to manage.

Ett stort och bra familjerum. Fräsch restaurang, men det tog tid att få maten och de tog mer betalt än vad som stod i menyn.

Nice hotel, good location and an excellent breakfast

A pleasant experience overall. Mohan at the reception was very professional and helpful. Other staff were also very accomodating and helpful. Breakfast was decent the lady was very efficient and friendly. Hotel itself was in a good location with a private car park.

The room was very clean, and had been recently updated. The staff were really welcoming and friendly, and it was great to be able to take our dog with us too. A bed and water bowl was provided by the hotel for him. The only constructive criticism would be that the room would benefit from a light above the mirror. We wouldn't hesitate to stay again or recommend this hotel.

The staff were all friendly and welcoming. The restaurant was being refurbished so only the bar was available for food which would have been fine but there was a conference on all day and evening which meant most of the bar was closed too. We were told we couldn’t have half of the food menu because of this. The floorboards are creaky due to the nature of the building which meant when people went to bed at 2.30am it was extremely loud above our heads.

Great location: very quiet but only 10 minute walk into town. Staff could not have been more helpful!

Note no pool so didn’t rate that Sta was ok, big room. Good service
