Great atmosphere, excellent staff, ideal location for walking around town.

Charming and cozy.

It was all wonderful right from the check-in, the staff are all very friendly, welcoming and helpful. We stayed in a well lit and very tastefully decorated and sizeable room, with comfortable beds, two small armchairs and a coffee table. The bathroom was well appointed with a bath and a large shower head. There were some nice extra touches as well, a small bottle of milk on arrival and later in the stay, plus bottled water, plenty of teabags etc. The food at breakfast was very nice too. The situation is marvellous, a short walk to the High Street and the Wetherspoons and other pubs/restaurants. Stamford is a lovely town with a great atmosphere and a park very near the centre. Burghley House is a short drive or a walk of just a few miles if you are a lot younger than us! We didn't get to Rutland Water, but we will go next time - because we definitely want to go back. All in all a brilliant break, hopefully to be repeated a few times at least.

Attractive space inside and out. Room small but bathroom nicely modernized. Wish there was more parking.

Fantastic hotel. Wonderfully situated and the staff were exceptionally welcoing and helpful. The bar area is great and the breakfast outstanding. Would thoroughly recommend staying here

Great hotel, lovely staff but it’s a bit pricey

After a week of hotel hopping, it was a pleasant surprise to walk in to a room that was well appointed and clean. the vibe of the room definitely met the expectations of "old town" Stamford. The room was clean. had plenty of room, and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was roomy and blessedly well lit. The only thing that I did not like was that there was not a shower. It was just a bathtub. If it weren't for this, I would have given a 5-star review.

Felt likely all staff genuinely cared.

In a great village that is beautiful with lots of history as well as contemporary activities. Breakfast at hotel is delicious and everyone from the receptionist to restaurant staff were warm and helpful

Decided to splash out on a high spec room as an Easter Stamford treat...as the reviews say, the Crown is a nicely laid out bar/restaurant with rooms at the heart of town.. Dont like to criticise as the place is obviously run with pride but I will add a few comments.. Having booked a top room (at nearly £200)which pictured a bedroom roll top bath with a character town view - i was initially given a fairly small room with shower. This was changed on request to a larger room with bath but still no view..despite looking boutique in the pictures the decor is actually pretty dated, and an internet TV would be more handy in this price range.The lighting in the bathroom was also brighter than the sun! There was also quite a bit of noise, intially from bar music below up to 9pm then from revellers in the street for longer, which i guess could be expected given the location. As a party base for later drinkers its fine but it didnt quite turn out to be the tranquil base that I was hoping for..

One of the best places we have visited in the UK. Great atmosphere, lovely people, beautiful property and tasty food. Would love to visit again soon!

Second wonderful stay at the Crown - Fantastic room with rolltop bath, separate shower, lovely big comfortable bed and plenty of space. Very welcoming and friendly staff but beware the stairs! Right in the centre of this beautiful old market town with numerous independent shops, restaurants and pubs, so we'll definitely be back...

Had a lovely few days at the Crown, friendly, attentive staff. Would certainly recommend to others.

No parking a big problem. Receptionist very helpful but stressful. Difficult to drive in town. Busy. Took 40 mins to find space. No resident space/ restaurant. Loud and busy pub style - not great. Location good.Bedroom ok but too hot and pillows are not good.
