Easy check in and friendly staff

The staff was super amazing. The food was wonderful! The room was outstanding! I highly recommend the castle for anyone to stay.

Loved the room decor and the cute little touches like the bow on the toilet paper and the towels folded like flowers. The grounds are gorgeous, the staff outstanding, and the building itself so beautiful.

Clean room

The room was lovely, the staff very nice.

Melville Castle was such a highlight on our trip. The room was gorgeous, the bed was comfy, and shower was incredible. The entire castle was decorated for the holidays and it was so cozy and charming. We ate dinner in the restaurant and HIGHLY recommend. We will absolutely be back

Very nice hotel, but had no sleep what’s so ever with what I encountered in my room 106 to what I can say was the most scariest think I’ve ever encounted. I believe if something is supposed to have been or people have had this same issue should be told to customers. Not a very nice experience, some people will say I’m mad but what I seen, felt and encountered will stay with me for the rest of my life

Staff was AMAZING! We stayed in the Castle Suite which is a gorgeous and spacious room. It has a huge bathtub! It also has a door that leads to the garden. The ponies were a beautiful site from our room. The grounds are spectacular.

We booked as we were going to Musselburgh races. Loved the hotel; authentic, and unlike more polished alternatives elsewhere in Scotland. Great character and great to see local staff offering international tourists great service. We will definitely be back

Building with character and history, beds were comfortable and rooms were clean

I don't think I'm the desired patron for this establishment. If you're a couple planning to do nothing but stay on property, it might be a great fit. But as a traveler who arrived by train, nothing was convenient about my stay. Lucas at the bar was wonderful. Rest of the staff were incredibly dismissive. Ended up checking out before sun up because I couldn't even get a cup of coffee. Kettle in my room had water, no clue from where or how long it had been there. But when I told staff they didn't even try to accommodate me. Just ignored me. Again probably great for some. Wasn't even passable for me.

Good size room, quality food, location

We enjoyed our stay. Our room was amazing. The grounds and the castle were exactly what you would expect. The food was great, both dinner and breakfast.

The castle and grounds were beautiful! The bar was fun and the bartender was excellent! Our room was well appointed and spacious.

Melville castle provided an affordable. authenic castle experience. It was everything I had hoped it would be. It is the best place I have ever stayed at. All staff were very friendly & kind. Food was delicious. The highlight of my trip.

Friendly staff, great food and atmosphere.

No problem with getting a parking space, very friendly and helpful reception welcome, room was gorgeous, tastefully done and full of little personal touches. Nice and clean. A big and very comfortable bed. We have stayed at a number of UK hotels (10+) this year and this is one of the few we are planning to return to.
