Great staff. Location perfect.

Friendly welcome and clean room, comfortable bed and good shower. Ideal for a one night stopover.

Excellent stay, food excellent and staff were welcoming and made our trip.

Breakfast basic for £18

Rooms ok but service goes downhill quickly when the hotel is busy - had to wait 5 minutes for someone to turn up at the reception desk and the breakfast is limited to a greasy buffet with no real healthy options. Service definitely different to other MacDonald hotels once they have a larger number of guests

On arrival I enquired about room service,the lady on reception informed me that it has been cancelled for tonight and the restaurant was fully booked and hopefully I could get a meal in the lounge bar if they could fit me in or alternatively order a kebab to be delivered to the hotel. I then asked the question about the above, which the receptionist replied we’re mainly a golf destination. There’s only three people staying outside the main Golf group and you’re one of them so our main business is golfers. My point to her was why couldn’t the hotel of let the people know especially with them just being three of them me one of them by email or phone call to say that the Restaurant was fully booked. The room services have been cancelled and you might be able to get a meal in the lounge as I would’ve eaten somewhere else before I arrived at the hotel if I knew how busy it was. I did manage to order in the lounge a couple of minutes before a member of staff came in and said no more orders to be taken the head chefs says,I’ve got in there by literally a couple of minutes the food took a while to arrive and half of it was cold on arrival, which I didn’t bring it up and eat it anyway because of the time it was and I was hungry by that time.

The room was really spacious and clean. It was a little bit old as the carpet was a bit worn in places which was a shame. The pool area was nice and was well maintained. The breakfast was regularly stocked which was a bonus as some hotels are very slow at refreshing the breakfast! All in all, a nice hotel on beautiful grounds. Would stay again

Hotels.com asked for a breakfast specific review, so: Breakfast was a quick and simple hot and cold buffet with plenty of delicious things on offer. Decent coffees are an issue though as you have to pay extra, which seems a little old fashioned. and sometimes they don't switch the coffee machine on early enough.

Front desk receptionist was polite and friendly and the hotel generally has a nice "feel" about the place. Room was superb ( 320 )

Great hotel and facilties

Some areas looking a little tired but generally all fine. The staff worked hard to make sure that guest needs were met.

On arrival we where greeted by a beautiful lady who’s name I cannot remember but she was very nice and gave us all the information about the area that we needed including help with travel time to different locations. The hotel is very nice and clean and the surrounding views are astonishing. Nice room with plenty of space for us both to not feel like we were in each others way and an amazing huge bed which was very comfortable.

Great venue for spa day,golf day,or bargain friend get-together stay. Handy for Chester and Delamere. Rooms could do with upgrade ( 1 wall heater so no winter break !!) Cleanliness was average.Staff were fine. Breakfast they claim would be £24 if room only: go B&B! -not worth £24 or £12. Breakfast organisation was not the best - no side plates,butter -so that needs looking at. The restaurant is pleasant but food very expensive for what you get - I advise going into Tarporley in the evening. Gold course looks first rate and you can walk round.Pool is big and spa treatment was recommended by my friend. Facilities 9/10 ; Room 6/10 ( good size) ; food was godd but sparse for price 6/10

I stay here around once a month and it is a lovely hotel. Only negative is that if it is the lady on check in desk on an evening she has never been there to greet me once and I'm often stood waiting. The young gentleman however always provides a 5 star service

Itll be good to have a kettle in each room because its winter and warm drinks are essential. Chairs in the bar will need upgrading, old and dirty

Two members of the Portal team consistently impress with friendly courteous welcoming conversation on arrival/departure from Joe. Equalled by welcoming open service from Olga managing breakfast.

There were a few cobwebs in the room/bathroom and the shower was very cold. However, all of the staff were kind and welcoming and the pool was very clean with great changing facilities.

The room was spotless, lovely beds and pillows everything was perfect in the room, loved the Elemis products in the bathroom. Dinner was superb I recommend the Burger! Breakfast was cooked to order it was served hot and was so tasty, Claire&Olga looked after us very well, lovely ladies, Alison and the reception team made us very welcome and were very helpful, we will definitely be back!
