Poor tbh, definitely not worth the price! Ok if u want to get drunk and crash and wake up and go, don’t take kids here at weekends even though it advertises family rooms.

I stayed here for work purposes being a short 20 minute commute to Grt Baddow. My work colleague and I were made very welcome. The place was spotlessly clean. Had a lovely bar downstairs for drinks and pub snacks and did a fantastic breakfast in the morning.. I would recommend the full English although there were alternatives, all in all I had a very good stay. I would definitely return to the Oakland if I was working in the area..

Second visit to this hotel and it was just as good as the first time. Clean spacious rooms, with shower over bath. All staff were wonderful as was the breakfast. Plenty of amenities just a short walk away, including restaurants & shops/supermarket. Wouldn't hesitate in coming here again. Kevin Hill.

No lift so not good for disabled or if you have heavy suitcase. No safe. So need to take everything with you that is valuable. Breakfast basic. Couldn’t make anything other than fry up. Tasteless . Times of breakfast available not late enough for late arrivals. Would be better finishing at 10am. Shower over bath with shower attachment regulated by 2 taps. Water changed between hot and cold frequently. Didn’t like locks on doors. Needs modernising. Very tired looking. Been there 20 years ago and not changed. Only thing liked was left biscuits in room and fan.

All the staff where polite and helpful, it just probably my over sights that I didn’t know this is a pub and a busy one, it was 1 in the morning with music playing that I emailed the pub to ask when things would quiet down and my young child couldn’t sleep. Very basic room, screw on the floor, cracks in the walls, dirty toilet and bath.

Parking was a nightmare, not on site and directions not clear.

We stayed for 2 nights to look at the area due to our daughter relocating for work. The hotel was a bit dated, it was clean, en-suite with a bath, bed was comfortable. Tea and coffee in the rooms. Breakfast was lovely. In the pub attached to the hotel. There was a good band on the Saturday night. Parking was in a car park opposite, we didn’t have to pay due to the times we were there. There was plenty of space. There was a lovely Indian restaurant next door. A Greene King Pub opposite. ASDA was across the road. Close to the main road to get to Southend, Leigh on Sea and train station (40 minutes into London). A quiet area but if you are exploring it is a great base. Staff were friendly and helpful. We would stay again.

The room was clean and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. The breakfast was good, not a huge selection but enough choice to accommodate most people. The Oakland is in a very convenient location. Saturday night they have a live band which can be noisy if you want the windows open. The bar was busy and the atmosphere friendly the band when we stayed was very good. The joining walls in room are thin, we could here the tv and hairdryer from next door.

A bit dated and tierd, but tidy, clean, warm and great staff

Excellent value for money. Room clean, roomy and welcoming. It's not 5 star, but for the price superb and breakfast was fantastic. Can't fault the place.
