Good

Not sure how its a 4-star. Anyway, the restaurant was really good, great food (but a bit heavy on cheese and light on mushrooms in the risotto) and wine. Special recognition for Tilly, who was very attentive. The fire alarm went off 12 times in the night, really? The room, No. 17, was way too hot, maybe that's what triggered the alarm? The heated towel rail was on full and I couldn't see how to turn it off. The bathroom extractor fan ran on for ages.

The primary purpose of a hotel is to sleep away from home. Do not skimp on pillows and mattresses. Theirs were lumpy, old, worn, instituional. I would expect a higher standard in prison or Butlins. It's a relatively quick a cheap fix, please sort it out.

Much better this time, they fixed the fire alarm...... Same issue with the risotto though, too much cheese. This time I was in room 69 and it was still too hot, the curtains don't fit the window and the gaps around the door made it quite light at night. The towel rail was off and the extractor fan was better.

Upon arrival I was asked if I have a vehicle on the car park. I entered the reg in the parking eye only to be told after it’s a £9 charge because I didn’t book direct. It’s actually free parking on the street 6pm - 8am. I lost count at 7 of how many times the fire alarm went off, other guests were saying 12 times. After paying £161 for the room including breakfast I had a terrible night. Breakfast was really nice to be fair.

Great hotel in a perfect location for Chelmsford city centre.

Superb friendly service

Staff were so helpful and accomadating. I would highly recommend staying at this hotel. I would also highly recommend eating in the restaurant. Both dinner and breakfast were amazing with a touch of luxury too .

Breakfast excellent and very convenient

Really good from start to finish. Staff were all very welcoming and helpful. The room was spacious and spotless. The breakfast was lovely with a wide range of options.

Had another lovely stay. Staff are always friendly and helpful and hotel is very clean and tidy. Will definitely be back again

Room was very tired, walls really thin and noisy guests kept us awake half the night

Had a lovely 1 night stay at this hotel. Immaculate room with the most comfy bed. Lovely bar and restaurant downstairs. Great location, 10 minute walk into town. Would highly recommend.

The heating wasn’t working for some reason but the staff were amazing and moved me rooms very quickly and made sure I was very cozy! Staff are amazing!

Upgraded to an ‘accessible’ room. This would not be easily ‘accessible’ to a disabled person- the shower was in the bath (though there were adequate rails and handles in the bathroom) and there was nothing particularly helpful in the bedroom. This was bland and bare but for one picture, and All the mirrors were in the bathroom! The room was clean enough, but the was mould evident around the bathroom windows. The staff were lovely at reception and in the bar. The member at breakfast time needs more training. He was inattentive (didn’t offer coffee) and seemed keen to end the morning’s duties in the dining room.

Nice hotel - helpful staff - especially Emma!

The room (although dated) was spotless. There was plenty of room, the bath was gorgeous, and we loved the addition of cold milk in the fridge. The radiator and aircon suddenly made strange noises in the night, waking us a few times.

The room and bathroom were exceptionally clean and the bed/bedding very comfortable.
