Hotel with amazing installation, service and great location.

This is a very special place. A highlight of our trip. The service was top notch and the staff worked hard to make sure that our time there was a great experience. We had two dinners there and both were delicious. The room was very comfortable. They even gifted us with their branded olive oil when we checked out. We were sad to leave!

This hotel is absolutely first class. Starting with the warm welcome from the staff, who conducted check in formalities whilst we sat in the stunning gardens enjoying a drink. The property is drenched in history whilst having all mod cons - the twin world’s of a Tuscan monastery now lovingly restored into a beautifully designed hotel combine seamlessly to immerse you completely. The kitchen produces absolutely knock out dishes, the passion for the best Tuscany has to offer evident in every option; with fantastic cocktails and wine pairings aplenty. The heart of Siena is but an 8 minute drive away and the hotel offers a shuttle service. Explore the palaces, cathedral, ancient sites and restaurants at your own pace before being collected and returned to the hotel where you will find a truly tranquil escape from the city. But it is the staff who deserve the highest praise. Their love of the hotel, its place in the world and how it is part of the local community shine through in every interaction. They are warm, knowledgeable, helpful and care deeply that guests have a truly memorable stay here. If this hotel is the local crown, the staff are the diamonds within it. You must stay here; it’s the best hotel in or near Siena by a country mile.

If we’ve inadvertently missed anyone, please know that your efforts have not gone unnoticed and are deeply appreciated. Our stay from August 16–20, 2025, was truly unforgettable. We absolutely loved our beautiful Room #2 and were touched by the care and hospitality shown to us throughout our visit. The hotel itself was immaculate, serene, and beautifully maintained. A special thank you to Chef Giovanni for an exquisite dinner—every dish was memorable. We can’t forget our bartender Ricardo for our signature drinks - dirty martinis. We’re already looking forward to staying at La Certosa again on our next trip to Siena. A sincere thank you to Michelle for her thoughtful recommendations around Siena and for securing us tickets to the incredible Il Palio event on August 16—an experience we’ll never forget. Also, our gratitude to Lorenzo for the insightful tour and fascinating history of the monastery and church. To top it all off, we were pleasantly surprised and touched by the thoughtful gifts from the staff—Il Palio t-shirts, wine, and olive oil. What a generous and unexpected treat! The staff was amazing. The food was amazing.

We only had a couple days to stay here between Cortona and our cruise out of Rome and let me say that this hotel did not disappoint. Everyone was amazing and the staff were very helpful. Such a beautiful property and a wonderful dining experience too.

Happy experience

A perfect place to stay. Nothing was too much trouble. Stunning views. Great facilities including a swimming pool and tennis court and a fabulous place to relax. Food & refreshments excellent. Easy distance from Florence and neighbouring villages. A wonderful place as a base to see much of Tuscany.
