Room was clean, meal was nice. Stay here about 6 times a year for the last 12 years. A little on the expensive side but it’s a lovely place and convenient. Receptionist was not very friendly. For the first time since going there I was asked to leave card details as a deposit even though I’d paid up front. I stayed 3 weeks ago with a friend and was not asked details. My husband is staying next week as well. I have never felt so judged by one person. This was quite disappointing for somewhere I’ve been going for so long.

Really lovely hotel just off the M6. Very dog friendly and really well appointed. Great food and local beer selection. Perfect stop off on our way to Scotland

The room was so restful and had every amenity needed. The staff were lovely and so helpful. A great stay.

Wonderful hotel, cosy and comfortable room. Great restaurant and lovely Farmshop next door. Beautiful views and a nice walk available. Didn’t hear the motorway despite it being so close. I would stay again.

Room was good and bed was super comfy. Nice selection of teas and coffees. Bathroom was good.

The staff are all lovely, very dog friendly, rooms are great and the location is really convenient for long journeys.

As is clear from ratings we really like this hotel. We have used it many times since it first opened in the 1970s and will continue to do so. Yes it's in a motorway service stop but Tebay shows how it can and should be done. Everything about the hotel is of high quality - the surrounding countryside, the hotel premises, the catering and especially the staff. Ideal

Overall ambience

Room was fairly clean ( it did smell rather strongly of disinfectant ) but bathroom bin hadn’t been emptied the bath taps had not been wiped clean and the blanket on the bed had a rather nasty large brown stain on it.( took a photo to show reception) We did raise this when we checked out and got an apology saying maybe it was tomato ketchup but that was it - not much of an apology really.
