What a great find , Oakhill has all the charm of its grade 2 listed status but carefully restored with all the touches you want from a modern hotel. The staff were lovely very welcoming and friendly. The food was excellent both in the evening and at breakfast.

Old property in beautiful surroundings. Very nicely appointed rooms. We stayed in the Derwent Suite with lovely views of the gardens/fields. No drapes at the windows, just interior shutters on the original sash windows. Some light spill through the shutters on the morning that did not bother us but may be an issue to those who prefer blackout drapes. Breakfast very nice with good choice. We dined in the restaurant one evening - also good choice of food with large portions and reasonably priced. The downside of the Derwent suite - and this may also be a issue with some of the other rooms in this property - was the constant squeaking of the old metal bedstead. Whilst the mattress was comfortable, the bedstead squeaked and groaned loudly at the slightest movement and tended to keep us awake for ages. The water in the bath/shower was lovely and hot on a morning and evening, but when we wanted a shower mid/late afternoon after a morning rambling, the water was lukewarm. We would probably try this hotel again with a different room but if the bed situation remains the same we would avoid again.

Fabulous bedroom & bathroom (The Arkwright Suite). Really lovely building, very clean with tasteful decor. Steak for dinner was excellent, while the beef pie was overcooked and hard. Pudding was gorgeous. Breakfast was very disappointing - chefs off duty? Staff were a bit hit and miss and not that friendly. We'd definately stay again when the gardens are in bloom - just maybe not have the breakfast.

Staff were friendly, accommodation was good and the food was delicious for dinner and breakfast.

I stayed in the Detwent suite which was absolutely beautiful. It is incredibly spacious and finished to a high standard. If you are a light sleeper you will need earplugs as you can hear the bar / dining room area

Very attractive boutique hotel and grounds. Beautifully decorated throughout. Celebrated NYE here and the chef and all staff were superb, as was the outstanding food. Thank you Sharron (owner) and Sharon (manager) for all your help and attention to detail.

While not noisy as such, there were sounds for much of the night as one or more people continued to work downstairs below us. Given the size of the bedroom I’d have expected a king size bed rather than a standard double. No bottled water and no tissues - Minor points but for this price I’d have expected it.

Evening meal was good but even though there was ample vegetables they were cooked with very little seasoning and very undercooked.

Warm welcome. Lovely room in the coach house - spotlessly clean, warm and with very comfortable beds. We ate in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast and the food was very good with friendly and prompt service.
