Helpful, welcoming staff and comfortable rooms. The hotel sits within an attractive riverside setting.

Lovely old fashioned charmingly well-worn inn from which to explore the rich history and beautiful surroundings.

Location is a hub for hundreds of kilometers of hiking/biking trails all around La Roche-en-Ardennes & Cielle - trailheads right outside the hotel! It's a short 2kn walk to La Roche along the highway, or a 4-5km hike to La Roche via a scenic hiking trail. There are a few bus lines that stop right in front of the hotel which can take you to/from nearby towns and transportation hubs - so there is no need to rent or use a car! The grounds are nice & enjoyable for sitting by the river with a glass of wine.

Staid during Covid and had a good feeling, breakfast was not enough though. Shame as dinner was excellent

This hotel is on the banks of a river in the Ardennes forest. The gardens are superb! The hotel has maintained its historic charm and has a five-star restaurant. The staff was very polite and spoke English and French. The only negative is that the WiFi in our room was very bad. It was adequate in the lobby area.

Quite a unique hotel standing alone next to the river in a beautiful setting. If you can't relax there you won't relax anywhere. Some fittings are slightly dated but overall standard is quite high, even more so for the area. Wifi is OK but not excepetional, mobile phone signal can disappear; not necessarily a bad thing.

Lovely hotel on the outskirts of La-Roche-en-Ardennes. The hotel was nice and comfortable, but the bar and dining area were a bit stuffy for a casual weekend away.

It's great to stay surrounded by the nature

This was a fantastic hotel for our purposes. We stayed a week and would have loved to have stayed longer. The setting was superb with a river bounding the delightful and extensive gardens. The staff were very friendly and helpful and tried their best to speak English to us, French being their first language. The food was excellent, home cooked/prepared and all products, where possible, sourced locally. We went walking and they provided us with a map and ideas for walks. The countryside was hilly but very beautiful and varied. The walks were clearly marked and easily followed. Parking was plentiful and off road. The room was very spacious and had a beautiful rear view over the river and gardens. It was spotlessly clean, part modern, part traditional Belgian. The bathroom was modern and well equipped.

We only stayed one evening, but the staff was very welcoming and helpful. Gorgeous setting. It's a quick 2km walk into La Roche on a lovely path, but the staff were quick to point out it wasn't appropriate for our return back after a concert -- perfectly safe, but no lights.

The hotel is a short drive from the town La Roche-en-Ardenne but looked like by far the nicest in the area. My single room on the top floor had been recently renovated and was clean, warm and quiet. The bathroom was very nice and bright from the white tiling and it's skylight window. The restaurant had a gastronomic menu and this being the season of hunting, had a game-themed menu. Set in a valley, the forested backdrop offered a beautiful view from all vantage points. There is a sauna but unfortunately I didn't have time to use it.

4 night long weekend break, family of 4 (parents and 2 adult children) to do a bit of walking and sightseeing in the Ardennes. Hotel is located on fairly busy road 20 minute walk from La Roche. Rooms were comfortable and reasonable well equipped. Breakfast (included) was good with plenty of choice and quantity. We ate in the restaurant one evening and the food was very good, fairly expensive too. La Roche is very nice with many restaurants and some attractions.

hotel room is very small, especially the bathroom. it is not very senior friendly. food were fantastic in the hotel restaurant.

La Claire Fontaine is an old and interesting building, on a road parallel to the river valley and about 20 minutes walk from the nearby town of La Roche. Our rooms were on the top floor, directly under the roof. They were spatious, with large bathrooms, but without air conditioning and hence pretty hot in the summer temperatures. However, it was possible to leave the door to the private balcony open to let some air circulate. The hotel staff were pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was included in the room rate and was reasonable, with an adequate choice of items and decent quality.

If you need a superb romantic getaway..this hotel is the perfect place. The stuff was incredibly kind, the restaurant was superb and the location is great.

Non attentive and didn't speak English. Best thing about this hotel was its location and the surroudnign scenery.

This property is beautiful. Two minutes from the center of La Roche. Staff was very nice, room was nice, and overall a great place.
