Loved this character-ful property. More a guest house than a hotel because it has very limited services, but lovely and historic. Really helpful and cheerful staff, though desk hours were a bit erratic. They said the desk runs to 1pm but some days it was later. Our first night it rained heavily and the room filled with an overpowering musty smell, and we worried, but it subsided the next day and was fine again. So not sure what happened there. The property is very quiet and peaceful. Guests seemed to respect the atmosphere.
Tip: the hotel is at the very western edge of Old San Juan so you will add a LOT of time in taxis getting around, because traffic gets really bad in the area and they randomly close a key access road sometimes. We found it was easier and far cheaper to walk 5 mins east to bigger roads and get picked up/dropped off there (walking 5 mins to a big road where the one way traffic is going your intended direction can save you many times that in taxis).
