Bed mattress is very comfortable. The staff are nice. The customers are gentle.

I was nearly late checking in for food but the staff pointed out that there was only 15 mins left so I should get my skates on. Only 1 person on front of house duties but she was excellent running the bar and delivering food. Very polite and chatty. well worth the tip I gave her (sorry didn't get her name)

The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and very happy to help. My room was a dog friendly room, at the top of the hotel. Super views. The room was everything as advertised, clean, tidy and comfortable. The heating was on, the hot water was hot, plenty of tea and coffee, huge television, and plenty of breakfast full English.

Lovely cosy room and the breakfast was probably the best we have ever had. Lovely staff and we loved our stay. Great location and the views were amazing.

Room was clean but cold when we got there. Warmed up with radiator on but would be nice to have it heated up prior to arrival ideally. rOOM WAS COMFY , TOWELS NICE , ALL AMENITITES. fOOD IN BAr lovely and plenty of choice.

Friendly staff. Rooms good. Convenient for walking in the area. Both evening meals and breakfast’s were really good, for choice, value and quality.

Hearty portions for breakfast, room was spacious only downside was a small double bed. Staff were amazingly helpful and accommodating.

Whilst the staff were friendly and very good and the linen was spotless, the room and bathroom were disappointing - for example - no cover on the toilet seat, signs of mould around top edge of bath, stains on the carpet, bathroom floor repair with gaffer tape, a picture hook left on the wall with no picture, a modern smart TV but which could only get main channels, Wifi that did not work - couldn’t get connected in spite of BT equipment right outside the room- not one comfortable seat in the room, cheap furniture and a mattress that one couldn’t move on without disturbing the other sleeper. Breakfast was good and other food served was conventional and ok. Overall we felt it was overpriced.

We loved our short stay at the Captain Cook Inn! They took care of all five of us for one night, and knowing that we had to leave very early the following day, they prepared breakfast to-go for us for our journey back to Newcastle. Too kind and so thoughtful!

The room and bathroom were good. The staff pleasant. Unfortunately the double bed in room 5 was hard and very uncomfortable. To get any sleep, I put the duvet upon the mattress. Also, there does not appear to be any staff on site over night. I was up early but downstairs, all the doors to dining room and others were locked. I went outside and found myself locked out. I had left access number in room and had to wait for arrival of cook to be let into building. £150 for room did not prepare myself for this experience.

Every aspect of our stay was ideal ,the staff were all young and extremely courteous and helpful, the food was. excellent and of good value and our room was clean and tidy.

Ideally situated for my boat trips. Room good size clean and comfortable. Excellent breakfast. Good choice for evening meals. Staff friendly and helpful. I would stay there again for my whale trips. Only minor thing which wasn't great was that on one morning I was out before breakfast and the hotel supplied a 'pack up'. This consisted of a packet of crisps, a biscuit and bottle of water.
