This is a comfortable small pub hotel which I've used several times. It has friendly and helpful staff, good food and beer.

Had an enjoyable stay, one of my visits to Four in a Bed venues. It is in a lovely market town close to the battle sight. The parking is at the rear and you may miss it but as you pass between Dixie Arms and Red Lion the car park is immediately on your right; ample parking you just need to register at the bar. It is a locals pub and the staff were friendly. It could do with a freshen up in the bar, there is an Italian restaurant on one side of the venue. The banquette seating needs to be replaced or at least deep cleaned. The communal stairs leading to my room also needs a deep clean as it gives a poor first impression, and there is so much that is good about this place. My room was spotlessly clean, lovely linen and a very modern shower room in this historic coaching inn. A large room with two comfortable seats, an old open fire, tea/coffee and water in the room. The room had all I needed and was very comfortable and clean, which is why I note the carpet in the common area, it may mislead on first impressions. I ate in the evening, lovely good value menu all served in good portions. The breakfast is pre-order, full English with choice of eggs, and is huge. A really friendly welcome in the morning and all freshly cooked for me. I was sorry to leave any as it was delicious but it was made for those with bigger appetites. I make the notes on the need to refreshen some parts to manage expectation but I found this place exceptional value for location and accommodation.

Pub is old, so it has a care worn look as you would expect. Room itself was really clean, shower was hot, facilities good and all in working order. The staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was good value. No complaints.

Friendly staff good food nice atmosphere

I payed the Dixy Arms, the full amount of 65£ by credit card on my arrival. I now note that

We stayed for 4 nights. Its a great place to see the area. Hotel owners are amazing people Staff were all helpful and pleasant.THE food was fantastic value would definitely tell everyone to eat in,hotel was a bit dated but to say it was built in the 17th century it's in good order. Hopefully we will be returning in the near future.

Friendly, clean and mega value

As always the staff are welcoming, friendly, personal and professional. The room was spatious, clean and very comfortable. The breakfast : delicious. I’ve now stayed at the Dixie around 14 times!! Highly recommend.

Wonderful as always

Room was large. Bed was comfy and bedding good. Room warm. Shower good. Stair carpet was very dirty. Shower needed mould spray. Lots of noise from the street early in the morning, not the hotels fault. Toilet constantly running during the night and emergency light on all night. I’m a light sleeper so this was a problem for me. I left before breakfast and the sandwich left in place of breakfast was supposed to be ham salad with mustard but it was just two slices of processed ham. Staff were great. Outside the pub/hotel was really grotty. Needs a Damb good clean up.

Fabulous pub, drinks selection, room and bathroom. Welcome was friendly and so professional. The breakfast was just perfection and would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area.
