Your check in is done on the computer. We did the pre registration and paid and according to instructions waited to be sent info to access our room. (supposed to be sent room # and access code for digital lock). A half hour before check in (4pm) we had no instructions and no staff in front office. We called, left a msg and after waiting in hot parking lot we went to a resteraunt, tried calling again, finally after emailing we got a text back that there was now a staff in the office. It got sorted out and by 5pm we were in our room. Clean, comfortable and as expected basic and functional which is all we needed for a stop over and for the price. It is on a main road and we could hear loader vehicles and sirens a few times in the night. If you have a dog with you I think they are pet friendly and main floor patio doors open into a fenced yard. Overall a good room for a quick budget friendly stop.

Clean room, excellent keyless / contact less check in check out

The hotel is clean, service excellent, and they provide perfect parking, good location easy to reach restaurants and sightseeing points.

If you are allergic to the odour of chlorine stay clear. The property’s CLEAN has its price. We were glad to pay. Charming Persian man with the perfect mustache(please mention this to his wife) was very helpful. Thank You

Mixed review for us. The check in process has many flaws, very disorganized. The link we were sent didn’t work so we didn’t receive any info before arrival despite having sent several messages and no replies. Thankfully there was a friendly staff member to help us when we arrived, however our room still wasn’t ready for an hour and a half after check in time and we didn’t receive the door code or room number until that time. The room itself was nice and clean.

The door system was a bit confusing but after getting used to the codes at each door it was fine.

The property has been nicely updated, the shower was really nice! I would stay here again for a short stay!

Great stay for the price

It’s definitely not what you picture when you hear “Boutique Hotel”. The place is literally “okay”… not horrible, not great. The positives were location, bed was comfy, had a fridge and bathroom was clean. The negatives were crappy towels (one face cloth and a ripped bath mat), no forks in kitchenette, somebody’s shoes on our back deck and a very loud, old ac blowing directly over our heads when lying in bed. If they stepped up the little things like cleaning up the property it would be better. The worst part was absolutely no sound barrier between up & downstairs. It sounded like the running of the bulls above us day and night.

Good property but Very noisy from cars on the road!

Window has no screen and dirty. Air conditioning is making loud noise with fan running but does not cool the space. Bathroom sink does not drain well. Check-in took ~30 min. There is no common space or breakfast room. No one helped to check out. The laundry room which services the entire hotel is dirty. Noted homeless people staying under the exterior stair. Booked with Expedia which rates 8.2. Honestly don’t know how it gets rated with this high rating. Very disappointed and Certainly not recommend it.

Everything was first class except for technology issues for me checking in/ out. My dog really liked the fenced dog area and made a new friend.

The Spot Hotel offers excellent value for the price.

Our stay was very disappointing. The online check‑in was convenient, but the room itself had a strong smell of old cigarette smoke. We also noticed small burn marks on the nightstands and other surfaces. Sleeping was extremely difficult due to the noise. We could hear conversations from neighbouring rooms as well as traffic from the road right beside the building. The cleanliness was also below expectations: there were hairs on the bed, and the pillows had visible holes. Based on our experience, we would not stay here again and would not recommend it.

The room has an in-wall A/C unit which was off and the room was very hot. The hotel is on the highway and parking is clise to the road. I was warned to make sure the car was locked.

Clean room, nice update of the bathroom, good parking, helpful staff while still booking. Will recommend. Useful kitchenette for extra washing sink.

The hotel is right on the main road through Nanaimo and I first thought it might be too noisy but it wasn't. The room is well constructed to provide a nice nights sleep. Pictures in the ad are accurate. If you travel with a dog there is a nice enclosed back area for exercise.
