Lovely hotel perfectly placed with a small walk to centre . Lovely court yard for sitting in the sun and breakfast was delicious

Great location. Tough to unload luggage as very limited space for cars. No help by the inn.

This is a beautiful period property with lots of original or sensitively restored features, and is in a great central location. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the food at our evening meal and included breakfast were very tasty with a good amount of choice. My reason for knocking down to 4 stars was the overall attention to detail that was lacking in the room. Certain areas were dusty, the bed was hard and uncomfortable and it was all in need of a general spruce up. Paintwork was looking tired, scuffed and peeling in places and the bathroom needed a more thorough clean in the nooks and crannies! Having said that towels and sheets were exceptionally clean and soft and the provided toiletries, little box of chocolates, coffees, etc. were a nice touch and of good quality. I was slightly disappointed on arrival, as it wasn’t a particularly cheap stay. Just need the rooms redecorated and more thoroughly cleaned to be 5 star!

Excellent hotel & bar Staff all welcoming and helpful

We arrived early by train and dropped our bag off at the hotel,the staff were very obliging. We had checked in on line the day before so it was just a case of picking our key up. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and was well stocked with tea and coffee, good quality soap, shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. There was the added bonus of air conditioning which saw a lot of use as the temperature was in the 30s. We dined in the hotel that night and the food was excellent. A very good selection of food at breakfast in the morning.

Lovely period property in the heart of Lancaster. Walking distance to all the bars and restaurants and the nearby canal. Room was a good size, and had Aircon. Breakfast was very nice and staff were lovely

Found out the hotel was overbooked en route. Not happy

Very lovely staff and comfy bed!

Staff were for the most part very helpful and friendly. Room was well appointed. Only thing that stopped it being 5 stars was the layout of the bathroom with a small gap to get into the shower. Also the remote control needs a good clean. Beds very comfortable and good amenities. Good choice at breakfast.

The incredible breakfast included with this stay Made the Toll House a must stay. And the staff were very helpful. We don’t drink, so we didn’t get to the bar.

Great location overlooking the canal. We stayed 2 nights, ate in the restaurant the first night and had cooked breakfasts. Every meal was lovely, the staff were great and attentive to our needs. In general customer service was fantastic and all the staff were friendly and helpful
