Great to be met at the airport by the owner, no stress about finding the place, friendly chat. Room was disappointing noticed the smell of cigarette smoke on walking in and never got away from it. I booked a NON smoking room. Location quite central, despite the high level still heard all the horns and caught the sunrise as there were no block-out curtains. Sockets were type G (UK) but kitchen appliances were type D. We were probably supposed to unplug the fridge to plug in the kettle. Drawer of kitchen implements, cutlery and flatware very disappointing, bendy spoons and no sharp knives. How hard is it to put a small holder in the drawer and put a complete set in? Bowls and glasses all grotty so needed a good clean before use. Walking distance to a few temples and supermarkets so a practical location. Uber cheap and readily available. Not too far from Colombo Fort train station to take some trips out of the capital. Good swimming pools on the 6th floor and a decent little food shop on the 5th floor. Wifi not worth bothering with, get a cheap plan and hotspot your phone to devices to have any success.
