It’s a good choice for those on a visa run. In fact, I think that’s what the owners had in mind. It’s a nice, friendly hotel run by lovely Laos people. The rooms are large and clean, everything works and there is an elevator. Avalon shares a 5-story building with the Aura hotel. Each has its own cafe. The Avalon is less expensive, but basically the same exact thing, minus a few hipster modern amenities. If you are here to see Savannakhet, you would be better located a few km SW, near the Night Market and riverfront. If you are expecting modern conveniences, you probably should not be coming to Laos. It is a magnificent country with lovely people.

This is the 2nd time we have stayed at Avalon Residence in the past couple of years. The hotel is very clean and quiet. The staff are very polite and friendly. It rained heavily the day we were there and the staff assisted us with an umbrella. The food in the cafe/restaurant next door is really great. Very tasty and nutritious and affordable. We will definitely stay at Avalon Residence again. The rooms are very comfortable and the value for money is outstanding. Thank you Avalon Residence!

Nice, comfortable room. An easy 10-15 minute walk from the Thai Consulate.

Good place and good owner as well. Owner is very kind to guest, she like to share story too about Laos. Recommended place to stay.
