The staff at the front desk is excellent. Very friendly during the check-in. She always smiles and tells me the location of the room. Feel happy to receive a Christmas card from the staff. The cups and the electric kettle are clean. I feel safe when using them. Wifi connection is good and stable. There are three electrical sockets in front of the desk. I can charge my phone and laptop at the same time. However, there is still room for improvement. The room is not clean. There was rubbish under the table when I first entered the room. The bed is nice and comfortable. But the pillow is too flat. The soundproofing is poor. I can hear people living above me, including walking, talking and the sound from the television. It is extremely noisy. I have to wait for almost 2 mins until hot water comes out from the bathtub and water tab. There is no curtain in the bathroom, and water splashes everywhere. Overall, I think the room is not satisfactory. It does not worth 230 pounds for three nights.

It’s a little shabby but very clean and a nice location, very convenient to the universities. The room hadn’t been refurbished in a long time and there were no charging points near the bed, and the windows had extremely poor noise insulation - you could hear people in the street speaking at normal levels. Staff was friendly but could use training at check in as there were several points of confusion as to directions to our room, availability of breakfast, and payments.

The hotel was definitely in need of a refurb. The room was small and smelt a bit. Staff were friendly and the breakfast was fine. Handy to walk to the Octagon

Very friendly reception staff, spacious room and great breakfast. The hotel is an old building with lots of character, it isn't perfect but it is clean and has everything we needed.

Was a good hotel, can improve on showers being in working order. Sabrin the manager was super on catering for my needs. For her I’ll be returning in the near future as she exceeded my expectations and her customer service was outstanding. Thanks

Clean room, friendly and helpful staff. The only thing I would change is the glass door to the bathroom and the (initially) noisy fan, which would disturb my partner with light and noise at night!

Friendly helpful staff

A dilapidated and dated hotel which I would not recommend. Carpet very worn in places, settee in our “upgraded” room very uncomfy, no help by staff with our luggage for two 80 year olds, one disabled. Another guest helped us up the stairs.

The hotel itself is a grand building. But needs love on the decor.. peeling paint and mould on staircase landings. The room is nice but be good to have tv in front of bed where you can see it and not tucked in the corner. The bathroom is nice but poor water pressure from sink and shower.. and be good to have like a waterfall effect shower head to give that pressure. The rooms are cosy tho with plenty of heating. The breakfast was absolutely spot on with a good choice. The hotel need to build an extension where breakfast area is at back to put in a swimming pool and Jacuzzi and a little steam room this would then give it that premium touch has its wasted space round rear. Location is fringe of town if you walk out of back of hotel and turn left at end of car park and keep going straight it's roughly 15 minute walk to top of town.

We enjoyed our stay although first night the room was cold. Staff fixed it so it became more comfortable

Generally an average room/breakfast. No complaints and no thrills. Functional room for a 1 nights stay.

Easy friendly check in

Nice stay in this no-frills hotel. Staff were nice and it was pleasant but the corridor was noisy day and night, perhaps as I was on the first floor at the intersection.
