I booked a double bed for 2 people for the Thingyan Festival 2019 (April 2019) although I stay alone. I have many friends in Yangon as I travelled to Yangon 3-4 times a year for a personal and business trip. I was shocked that the owner asked me to pay for the visit of my friends to see me. I am only allowed to have one visitor with no charge (because of my double bed booking). After that visitors #2 and so on, I have to pay 10,000 MMK per person (approx 7 USD per person). I decided to book for the rest of my trip to another hotel and just leave my stuff there as I already paid the hotel by internet. I am totally disgusted with this hotel. The reasoning was that they need to submit the names of people to government which is rubbish (I don't mind they get copies of ID of visitors as these should be standard practice) but these friends don't stay or sleep with me at all and would stay for a brief chit chat. I have never experienced this from other hotels. Besides the hotel is super old like most likely more than 20 years already so why be like this. Stay at this hotel at your own inconvenience.
