I loved this place. When I go to England, I enjoy these smaller, transformed hotels much more than bigger ones and Hand and Spear has been the best. The room I got was spacious with ample wardrobe space and beautiful decor. The bath was insane with a beautiful claw foot tub. I’m very self-sufficient when I travel so I don’t expect a room made up each day but I’m sure they would accommodate you and they quickly brought extra towels when I asked. The thing is…my room had food and a little fridge with cold beverages. Most of the hotels of this size where I’ve stayed don’t offer that surprise. I think I blew through the snack basket and did a number on the cold pop on night 1. What made it more valuable to me is that I’m disabled and sometimes have a bad day. The snacks and nearby grocery was a big help. Lastly, whilst I didn’t eat at the pub, it had wonderful ambience, was always busy and had lovely outdoor space. Everyone working there could not have been kinder. All around, I just couldn’t have asked for a nice time. I docked them in star for not having room service. I dock everyone for that so I thought it was fair (but I really didn’t care).

Sadly I did not have the best experience whilst staying here. Firstly there was very loud party music being played late at night in the garden beneath my room window despite there being no one there. I tried to call reception to ask them what time it would be switched off but my room phone wasn’t working. I then left a message on my booking page, no response. I then found the hotel number to ring from my mobile but the website stated they were closed so I wasn’t sure I would get a response. Someone thankfully did answer, I told them about the music and they said they would switch it off, which they did. I do think the staff forgot to switch it off and had I not called it would have continued right through the night! Shower did not drain so I needed to keep switching it off to allow draining to avoid floods. I tried to make a cup of tea but the milk in the fridge was 3 days out of date so I couldn’t use that. Overall not the best stay! :(

lovely looking pub, check in was not over friendly with very little by way of welcome or instruction. Room at first glance was lovely but lots of small issues with either bits broken or poor cleanliness. Tv has lead dangling from it and does not connect.

I’ve stayed here a few times, but sadly it feels increasingly neglected and a little tired. My room was very dusty, and both the toilet and shower tray hadn’t been properly cleaned. The lady on reception was helpful and gave it a quick clean as no other rooms were available, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, noise from guests in the garden area (which my room overlooked) went on past 12:30am, making it hard to get any rest. I don’t usually write negative reviews, but as someone who stays in the area weekly, I’ve found other hotels to be a much better option.

Room 6 smelt damp and frankly the shower base had a good inch of mould around the edges. Shame really as it was my third time staying at the hotel

Rooms, though tastefully decorated, are a little tired. Very mouldy silicone in shower tray and clearly tea cups washed in sink rather than taken to be run through dishwasher. Reception area is very grotty and accessed from outside next to kitchen/bin store! Just small things missing like coffee machine, but no pods. Garden maintenence guy blowing leaves at 6am every morning also painful!! But... staff are friendly and location vibrant. Could be so good!!

Friendly staff, lovely food and a spacious room. Lots of parking. Good stay all round.

Our bathroom was a little dirty. Black water stains around the top of the toilet bowl and a thick layer of dust on the magnified mirror.

Excellent place to stay - very helpful staff and live the way it’s decorated

This is a very old building which is reflected in its rooms. We were in room 11. First, we had to climb 4 lots of narrow stairs to get to our room. Then, when we were in, ANOTHER set of stairs to go down to a room with a bed (which filled the room) and an en-suite bathroom. The bathroom was like a sauna as it was small, had a heated towel rail which we couldn't turn off, no extractor fan and no window. The bedroom had a minibar built into the furniture but the covering door was wedged closed with a folded beermat! The bed, douvet and pillows were all very heavy so not a good sleep. The breakfast experience wasn't much better. First I had to prove that it was included with my booking (good job i took a printout with me). There were no yoghurts, no sugar to go with the cereal, no bowls, butter etc. Poor choice unless you have the full English. We chose this Hotel for its proximity to the railway station. If I came to Weybridge again I would stay somewhere cheaper and get a taxi to the station. They were lots of them at the taxi rank when trains came in.

The breakfast was very poor No yogurt only fruit available were grapes! The heating in the room was either cold or hot !!

Staff were amazing! Breakfast was brilliant! Good car park. It was noisy but we knew we were above a pub. The room was grubby and could do with a deep clean.

Overall a good hotel in an ideal location for my business trip. Room was big and comfortable. Breakfast was very good.

The room was spacious and well-designed, with a large bathroom featuring a freestanding bath and shower. It was a lovely space overall, though it was unfortunately not very clean, especially the bathroom. The bedding, however, was fresh and clean."

Stayed on work trip. Lovely comfortable room, well appointed. Pub downstairs has a good range of tasty pub food.

Very conveniently placed for Weybridge and the Brooklands museum.

Wonderful place, I stayed in room 5 which was decorated really beautifully and had everything I needed... comfortable bed, iron/board, huge TV with Sky TV (connection a little tricky at first), impressively stocked mini bar and snack basket, large airy bathroom with a waterfall shower, really nice toiletries. Staff were also excellent and very friendly.

Comfortable and quiet room, decent restaurant and lovely staff, decent area, great atmosphere in the restaurant 10/10
