The fittings in the room were tired and worn. The tea/coffee tray was kept in a cupboard but was warm. Needs to be on the side. Bed comfy room very clean

Beware. This hotel has issue with Soil pipes. Our room was unbearable in the bathroom and had to have the door closed. Unable to use the toilet because of the stench. Reported to hotel staff - who advised ‘Yes we know - the cleaner forgot to put a plug back somewhere’ ?!?!?? Was then advised an ‘Operations Manager’ would call to discuss - 5 days later still waiting……… despite me calling to chase. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Dinner was very good as was cooked breakfast. Only comment I would make was limited choice on first course of breakfast.

Had a lovely one night stay here prior to visiting Dumfries House. Staff were lovely and food excellent. Only problem we had was the bathroom. The shower was over the bath which was very slippy and there was no mat and no grab rails to hold on to. As we are both getting older and have physical problems we felt very unsafe.

This is a very welcoming hotel and the staff are warm and friendly and professional. The room is comfortable, but a bit squashed for the people. Our only gripe was that it was hot and stuffy

Visiting southern Scotland , this hotel met our expectations. An older hotel , its remodeling was quite stunning . The rooms / restaurant/ bar were all very inviting. I felt its price was appropriate and I give it a 3.5 star rating personally. It’s a bit off the beaten path but I’d recommend highly if your trip planning takes you in that direction.

Was well appointed for the price bracket that it occupies. Need to get rid of their sqeeky floorboards. Staff were most helpful.

This was a day trip. The house and its contents and displays were remarkable and no less remarkable was the kindness and helpfulness of the staff, who, without exception, were obviously very much enjoying their work. Well done.

This hotel was beautiful, clean, friendly and had a fabulous food in the restaurant. The staff were only to happy to please, we were going to a wedding so stayed here for one night before the wedding. We asked for a late checkout so we could get ready and they said yes with no extra charge or problem. We were running a little late so phoned down for an extra 1/2 hour and again they were only to happy to accommodate. I will be returning, one of the best stays in a beautiful hotel thank you
