Two reasons you should consider this hotel but many more reasons not to book! Good things: the spa and restaurant staff are great, and the location is exceptional but they’re many other hotels next door. Bad things: - unfriendly receptionist: the receptionists were not attentive and friendly throughout my 3-day stay, especially the one who checked me in. I just looked at the other guest comments, it seems my bad experience was not unique to me. - Room conditions: the room has a very small window (like a prison) that offers almost no natural night. Hotels.com must indicate this in the room description because people like me do mind. Also, the room size is small. - Noise: Throughout my entire stay, I could not sleep well because of the noise coming from both inside and outside of the hotel. Imagine disco music is On till 2am. - Housekeeping: the bathrobes were being removed from the room and clean towels were not refilled. The cleaning and amenities were random - good luck! Extra charge: 20 Euro for the receptionist to just make a phone call to get a taxi, while the taxi ride costs just 10 Euro. I’d rather pay an extra fee to the taxi driver who actually delivered a service and drove me to the train station safely. Where does it say in the hotel’s public information on this extra charge? Shouldn't it be a part of the 5-star hotel?

Perfect location & Service

We stayed I n Portobay Flores in Porto superior room for 3 nights. This was definitely not up to a five stars hotel standard. Pros: 1. Breakfast staff are friendly, cheerful and helpful. 2. Hotel had a perfect location right in city center Cons: 1. Receptionist was not attentive. We arrived in heavy rain and both were dripping. Receptionist was busy on phone and didn’t even offer tissue. 2. They just offered one complimentary glass bottle of water even we stayed for 3 night. We requested to refill the bottle and they charged EUR7.5 for that 3. Room is small. It didn’t indicate in hotel.com but it’s 21-23m square fit 4. The corridor was dripping with 2 buckets from the first day till we left the hotel. 5. Breakfast selection was okay but it didn’t change at all for the first 2 days and the third morning was 90% same 6. Hotel did not provide any toothbrush/ toothpaste

Hotel in a very convenient central position to be able to walk to all areas of Porto centre and to the river. The front part of the hotel is in a very attractive old palace building, with grand rooms. Most rooms are in a nicely designed modern block behind (basic/classic rooms are quite small). Tram to the coast 5-10 minutes walk away. The staff were superb, very good, attentive service levels at the front desk, catering and housekeeping. Breakfast was exemplary as were the breakfast and restaurant staff.

Lovely property would highly recommend it.

We loved PortoBay Flores could not fault it and will most definitely will stay there again when we come back to visit beautiful Porto.

Very simple, excellent in every respect

Excellent property and stay, we enjoyed it very much. Stayed with our family in adjoining rooms, which worked out very nicely. Small but adequate fitness room, which they were willing to open up early for us. The breakfast was excellent. There were welcome snacks in the room upon our arrival - a nice touch. Great location, easy to walk to the river, shops, dining, train station. Overall, excellent.

Great 5 start facility

Gorgeous hotel. We had visited Porto Bay Rio de Janeiro on our honeymoon so were very excited to visit one of the sister hotels. We had a room with a balcony which overlooked the beautiful courtyard. We loved the way many of the original baroque features had been kept. There was even a quiet little reading room with some boardgames, a fireplace and jazz music. The spa was small but very nicely done out with everything we needed. There was building work going on very close by on weekdays (nothing anyone can do about that), but the windows were well soundproofed and kept the noise out. The location is ideal - aboit 5.minutes from the waterfront and loads of cafes and restaurants right on the doorstep. We visited Porto for my husband's 40th birthday, and we were greeted by a complimentary bottle of champagne and chocolate cake on the day - we hadnt even mentioned his birthday to the staff, it was just attention to detail! The staff were alsi veru helpful in offering advice on where to visit and restaurant recommendations, and making reservations for us.

This is a lovely hotel in the heart of Porto. The breakfast buffet is amazing. The hotel excels in cleanliness. One of the hotel security guards was a little wierd. While I was waiting to meet friends in the lobby, he stood there staring at me for about 10 minutes. That was actually the only time in Porto that I felt uncomfortable.

Lovely place, very convenient. Located on a busy street- but surprisingly quiet and easy access to popular places. Stellar service above all!

All was excellent the only issue was the constant humming vibration noise coming from outside especially noticeable at night

Very well run hotel, nicely situated. Would be nice to have had breakfast included. Parking options for rental car we very tricky or expensive
