Wonderful service. Excellent attitude of front desk. The view is just perfect. Very worthy to stay here.

The location is in the center of activity and walking distance to many historical sites. The water side view of the Douro river is the best amenity of the room (queen bed was also very comfortable). The included breakfast exceeded expectations and the staff went out of their way to assist with site seeing and restaurant recommendations. This hotel was an exceptional find. My recommendation is to reserve early (and stay extra nights) as there are few rooms in this intimate hotel.

Fantastic location. Everything is walkable from here. Next to the river and great views. The rooms are small, but it's Porto on the river. The staff is very accommodating but access to the front door is challenging after hours. Would definitely consider again.

The service stood out as amazing with a feel of concierge service. Alejandro, Luisa and Beatrice made me feel very welcome. The room was very clean and overlooked the iconic river, where you can feel the cool breeze and hear the seagulls and faraway live music. The complimentary breakfast and service can rival any 5-star service and quality.

We had a wonderful stay at Guest House Douro!! The hotel's location is perfect for visiting Porto in a short time because it is in walking distance to most of the attractions. The view from our window is unbelievable! The hotel service is excellent! Luis checked us in and helped us plan our day right away. He made marks and wrote instructions on our map and answered all our questions. The neighbor restaurants which he recommended were so good, we couldn't have found them on our own. If you want to find a perfect place to stay in Porto and get all the help you need, Guest House Douro is your best choice.

Gorgeous view of the Ribeira from our room in this well located guest house. The room was tiny but comfortable for a couple having a short stay. We enjoyed the close proximity of some of Porto and Gaia’s best restaurants and destinations. Staff were helpful and pleasant. Breakfast was abundant and delicious.

The hosts were wonderful. The on site breakfast was delightful. There was fruit, juice, coffee, assorted meats and cheeses, yogurt, and eggs offered, all personally served at the table. The place is secure, with main entry door constantly locked. The location is perfectly walkable and convenient to the river front, restaurants, and key sights. There was no noise at night despite the activity outside. The people outside are quiet and activities end around 10/11pm. The room was small, but very comfortable. Getting luggage down the hill is something to note, but it was not difficult.

The most wonderful stay we ever experienced!!! Great location, beautiful hotel, excellent breakfast, amazing and very caring staff!!! Unforgettable memories!!! Will definitely come back!

When I got off the taxi in the quiet, early morning and dragged my suitcase down the steep hills, my very first impression was that the area looked a bit dirty. While waiting after ringing the bell, I felt a mix of anticipation and anxiety. However, the staff's kindness and warm hospitality completely changed my mood for the better. After leaving our luggage and sightseeing downtown, we entered our assigned room. The moment I saw the view outside the window, I realized I didn't need anything else. It was the perfect accommodation. I highly recommend booking a room with a Douro River view.

This was one of the best hotel breakfasts we’ve ever had, with an incredible selection of fresh, exotic fruits. The staff were extremely helpful and welcoming throughout our stay. Our room was spotless and had an amazing view, and the location was perfect—right in the center of everything we wanted to explore. A 5/5 stay—we would absolutely come back.

The rooms might be a bit small but they are very clean and the location can’t be beat. The staff are very attentive and helpful with dinner suggestions and arranging travel. The breakfast included many fresh fruits and other alternatives. Very impressed with our visit!

So many thanks to Luis and Luisa who were exceptional and made our stay so very welcoming. Yes, the rooms are very small (be ready "not" to unpack your suitcase), however the location and amazing Continental breakfasts with the stunning servings of perfectly ripe fresh fruit more than made up for the lack of room space. Everything is nice quality ...But Luisa and Luis (and Hugo) were exceptional. Thanks so much. We will return XXX

Excellent breakfast and helpful staff

The best part of staying here – by far – was the amazing staff! One staff member in particular was there the entire time we were, and gave us wonderful recommendations, He was so kind and so helpful … basically putting together an itinerary for our day with some fantastic suggestions. He also orchestrated our breakfast – which was delicious! Aside from that, the location is very central. It's a busy area with a great view of the river and lots of activity! I highly recommend staying here.

We have just returned from a fabulous 3 night stay in the Guest House Douro and could not have been happier with our decision to stay there. A very unprepossessing exterior gives way to a small gem of a guest house/hotel in an excellent location close to the river front in Ribeira. Our room (402) was comfortable and clean with everything we needed and a gorgeous river view. Rooms in cities do tend to be small but it was not unreasonably so. Breakfast was delicious with an excellent variety of offerings. What really makes this such a delightful place to stay is each and every member of staff, who were all unfailingly helpful and obliging. Shout out particularly to Luiz who was brilliant. If you are going to Porto and like a small bit perfectly formed place to stay you couldn't do better than the Guest House Douro.

This boutique hotel is incredible & the staff were exceptional. The hotel is right on the dock & has access to great restaurants- our staff even escorted us to the best local restaurants. Breakfast is perfect, & the fresh fruit display amazing. This hotel is worth every penny.
