Very gracious host. From the moment we walked onto the property we felt welcomed and greeted with kindness. Traditional Scottish hospitality creates an environment that is rarely found. We would highly recommend pampering yourself by staying in this historic home and allowing the host to book you at spot at Tiley’s for a beautiful dinner and a memorable experience. Don’t forget to have breakfast or you’ll miss one of our favourite moments, stories, blueberries and homemade croissants served in a traditional dining room on beautiful antique china. “Lang may yet lun reek”

The man who operates the Inn was very unpleasant and unkind to me and my wife. The establishment is quaint and in a good location, but those qualities do not compensate for his rudeness. I regret that we didn't stay elsewhere.

Great location and very nice host.

The owners, Sandy and Cathy made our stay from the moment we entered their Inn a memorable experience. They gave us a tour of their incredibly beautiful Inn and then lead us to the breathtaking outdoor space to relax before we went to our room. They even suggested a restaurant for dinner and made the reservation for us. Parking is available at no charge in the back of their Inn.

My husband and i thoroughly enjoyed our stay, with the Bests! They have done an amazing job with the Scotsman Inn to the finest detail with the china. Don't miss out on the breakfast of homemade croissants and a kilted tea service. One thing to note ---their are no elevators ---carry a small suitcase!! The Inn is close to the waterfront so very walkable.

Very unique owners, both from Scotland, I believe, and they were the only staff that we interacted with. They were entertaining, gave great advice regarding places to find good food, and in particular, good seafood, and they keep a very nice hotel in downtown Pictou, just a couple of blocks from the harbor. It is an old building, so there is no elevator. Nonetheless, it is so well decorated that you don’t mind climbing steps to your room. Very nice furnishings, very clean room, quite comfortable bed, and an entertaining as well as delicious breakfast! No complaints whatsoever!

We really enjoyed our stay at The Scotsman, it was just as much of a destination as Pictou! The owners are charming and very interesting to chat with. The entire property is well decorated and charming. They’ve done a fantastic job with the place!

Fantastic people and a very unique old building very clean very friendly. Great food definitely recommended.

What a great experience!!! Hosts went out of their to make sure we were looked after. Rooms and dining room were so well furnished and decorated. A definite “old world” British feel. Rooms are not large but it added to the experience. Highly recommended.

Sandy and Cathy are the best hosts. They are so engaging and really bring the Maritime charm to guests. Their restaurant suggestions and attraction recommendations were helpful and made our visit that much richer.
