The staff at The Ship Rooms was incredibly nice and helpful and even carried my ridiculously heavy bags up two flight of stairs.
However, these are definitely moderate accommodations. The room was a decent size but really lowly lit, but because we were facing the main road, we couldn’t open the blinds fully because it was easy to see into the room. This also made it really really noisy at night; we had to sleep with the window open because it was ungodly hot but heard cars, motorcycles, and people all night. It made it pretty hard to sleep. They provided one fan that was a life saver and had cold water available in the hall thankfully.
The bathroom was a good size and had been updated, but the shower was odd. It was a very high step tub, not a shower, but it had one small panel of class next to the shower head and the rest was just open. It was also right in front of a frosted window, so we had to keep opening and closing the window every time we showered.
These were very standard, very British accommodations without much comfort elements. If you’re an American traveling here, just be aware that it is not a hotel.
Again, really nice people and cannot complain at all about the service. The bar downstairs was also really nice and had good food and drink that you get a discount on.
