Antigonish Victorian Inn

Needs an upgrade. We rented 2 rooms fo the weekend. Both were comfortable - no complaints. One room - the lamp didn’t work properly - had to plug in/out of wall to turn it on/off. Carpeting in main areas on stairs was filthy and very stained. Just didn’t give a great impression on overall cleanliness. Rooms were clean. We weren’t able to make breakfast the first day - due to our own plans. The 2nd day there was a power outage overnight - where power was restored at 7:15. However they cancelled breakfast when we had come down at 8:30 -‘so we had to go out. Other restaurants in town were open. Location is great. I would stay here again, but for the price, I would expect some improved cleanliness and repairs.

Absolutely awful. If I could just simply swoop the stars and simply say, “Do Not Stay Here”, I would. It’s a Victorian home, as the name suggests, and the furniture might very well be original. The sofa is full of holes. The mattress, which they crammed into a space that leaves no room on the sides, is brutal; I’d be scared to see the condition of the mattress. The linens consist of a very thin sheet on the mattress, with an equally thin top sheet and “blanket” (which isn’t a blanket at all). They do NOT clean the room. We stayed for several days and the bed was never made. We did get clean towels once, but the overflowing garbages were left, so we did it ourselves. I’ve been going to Antigonish for several years, several times a year, as I have family attending St. FX (undergrad and post). I have stayed at many places in the town. The town was completely booked for graduation, which coincided with the weekend our child had to move to a different address. My wife and I agreed our car would have been more comfortable and we should have just stayed in another town and commuted. Just to be clear, I am not the type to complain about things, but I needed to provide this warning. The place is NOT run by locals who have any understanding of the town or what it takes to run an inn. I asked for a box of Kleenex and the person at the desk handed me the one in front of him. The cupboards in the kitchen: empty. I could go on, just ask me!

Nice old building Rooms never swept under beds, lots off dirt Cable never worked so no tv. Staff unable to fix. Never had breakfast. Hours only 8-930. We had to leave earlier.

We had to ask each time we wanted the room to be cleaned The lobbybof the inn has a very strong smell of Indian cooling. No place in the room to.put clothes away. A very small & unstable coat rack was the only place to hang clothimg. Inadequate for 2 people. Staff was vet pleasant

The location was great!

The staff were wonderful. The breakfast came with 5 options. A first rate restaurant is right across the street. Charming hotel but needing a little tlc. Highly recommended.

Schneller und reibungsloser Check-in. Die Unterkunft ist in einem historischen Gebäude, wir hatten das Zimmer "The Library" mit einer kleinen Bibliothek. Insgesamt war es sauber, allerdings hatten wir Brösel und Flusen im Bett - muß wohl beim Bettbeziehen passiert sein, denn an sich wirkte das Bett schon frisch bezogen. Zum Frühstück konnte man aus 4-5 Varianten wählen wie Classic, French Toast, Pancakes, Joghurt/Müsli etc. und es wurde dann frisch zubereitet - top. Lage fußläufig zu verschiedenen Restaurants und zwei Craftbier-Taprooms.

I liked the convenience of the location and the breakfast was lovely. I really would like to see the rooms cleaned better as there was dust everywhere and dust bunnies under the bed

Great hotel, staff were helpful in finding dining options nearby. Arrived on Thanksgiving Sunday so choices were limited. Great hike nearby, located on Main St. So close to everything.

Very friendly staff and nice, sit down breakfast provide. Room was comfortable and clean. I should have read the fine print; not realizing our room had a bathroom across the hall.

Nice accomodations. No parlor or sitting area in b and b. We were in The Library which had an outside entrance rather than thru interior of home. Breakfast was basic but with several options(standard egg/bacon/toast;.yogurt with blueberries; cereal; pancakes with blueberries; or French toast with blueberries) We chose pancakes with blueberries. The breakfast syrup was provided in the plastic, disposable individual cups and not the real maple syrup. You'd expect that in a hotel but not a bed and breakfast. Breakfast is served 8-9:30.

A quaint and fun place to stay. Walking distance to all amenities. Great rates, great staff, hot breakfast. Well done!

Great. Place but it needs a bit of upkeep. The room was comfortable but the ceiling was cracked and peeling, no leak just old.The bed was super nice and comfortable and breakfast was good. Just needs some TLC. A few amenities like water and water glasses in the room would be a great addition.

The Victorian Inn desperately needs to be renovated. For the price, it should have had clean baseboards in the bathroom or a shower curtain that wasn't covered in slime. The beds are hard and uncomfortable, and I wondered the whole time when was the last time the quilts were laundered? It's dark and dreary inside the rooms and the whole place could use a paint job.

The inn is in downtown Antigonish so convenient to restaurants and the St. FX campus. This historic property definitely has potential but needs to be better maintained - seems to be run as a cash cow. Steps leading to the main entrance badly need a coat of paint, items stripped from the bathroom wall but not patched/repainted, bathroom faucets need to be replaced and only 1 ply (!) toilet paper used. Decent breakfast provided. Staff okay but could be more welcoming.

After going on a grand tour of Nova Scotia for our wedding anniversary, we arrived at the Victorian Inn. Although the house was surely a stunning old house, it is now suffering from deferred maintenance. The handrails at the main entrance were loose. The exterior needs pain. Our room, while comfortable had a filthy shower curtain that had obviously not been cleaned in a while and a shower curtain so dark, it was almost impossible to see when it was shut. There was no bath mat or anti slip devices. The outside of our room had fake flowers in terrible shape. Though the young man a the from desk was friendly and efficient, I am appalled at the state of the property. On par with a cheap motel, not the grand Victorian it ought to be.

Everything was very good,except the bed is creaky,the service was very awesome,guy in the customer service was very accomodating,and he is still the guy on the breakfast table that serves us,he was very polite💕except for the creaky bed,everything is awesome 💕

The room itself was ok, it the property need some renovations to make it safer and more attractive. The front porch needs repairs, the railing is not stable, and it needs a little tlc on the inside too.
