Room should have a fridge and milk.We arrived after a 5 hour journey and were told our room was not ready.2 hours later we asked about room and it was ready but the cleaner had not informed reception of this. When we booked nobody asked what kind of room we wanted and we ended up with a room at the top of a spiral staircase. I have mobility problems and found it difficult to climb the stairs.

A beautiful old hotel with spacious rooms, cozy bar and good breakfast. Our room was upgraded and we received a complimentary glass of bubbles as we were staying for my husband’s birthday which was a real treat! All
The staff were kind and helpful. We enjoyed the spa facilities but note that it does get quite busy in the afternoon and subsequently there were no more chairs left by the pool but the following morning it was quiet and calm. We will definitely be back 😊

Really beautiful property and grounds. Dog friendly which was a HUGE plus, they also left out bowls, a dog bed and a chew treat - much appreciated! The room was cosy and bed was very comfortable. Dinner in the bar was good, the only slightly strange thing is there is no music played anywhere in the restaurant or bar meaning that the ambience is really strange! Not necessarily a judgement but it was very noticeable how uncomfortably quiet it was. The spa is lovely and gym is small but adequate!

We stayed in four places whilst walking the first half of the South Downs Way, the other three were pubs with rooms and all three were much better than here - more attentive and friendlier service, nicer and more modern rooms and significantly better food and yet this place was twice the price.....
