A lovely quaint building with a lot of character greeted us. I could not find reception as everything is done from the bar. The Hotel had a very busy bar for the local Night Time Economy but the few present Staff Members were just awesome throughout. It had to be said that the food was excellent at the restaurant. The only downside was the noise at night from the bar toilet hand dryers and the bar Patrons outside and the matresses were a little uncomfortable but adequate. Definitely would stay again but the choice of Hotel was made for its location very near to a Daughter's to-be-former Student digs this time so we'll have to find an excuse.
We recently spent two nights at The Walton as we had tickets to a gig at Rock City. The staff were all so welcoming and friendly. Our room was well equipped, excellent quality bedding, luxurious bathroom and fresh milk for hot drinks on request.
The decor throughout the hotel is quirky; we especially loved the Monkey Room with the painted mural and bright wingback chairs.
We would definitely return if we were coming to Nottingham again.
The only issue we had was with Expedia who charged us twice. Gareth ensured that this problem was raised with Expedia and I’m awaiting a refund.
This fabulous hotel is an antidote for anyone who is bored with the standard, ubiquitous, boring, characterless hotels we experience everywhere. The Walton, a Grade II listed building, oozes character, charm and quirkiness.
It is located a very short walk from Nottingham City Centre, on the edge of 'The Park' with its 226 gas street lamps - the largest surviving gas-lit area in Europe (150 acres).
The Walton staff are excellent (a big shout-out especially to Gareth and Dana, but all were good).
The bar and terrace area is populated by a huge range of people - from university students to the retired .... but the stars of the show were undoubtedly Hugo and Hunter - the resident puppies who wander around getting thoroughly deserved attention (the bar and terrace are dog-friendly, I saw 2 other visitors with dogs).
