Silver Sand Neil

After a disastrous stay at Silver Sand Sea Princess I was dreading this stay just as much! I really missed a beat when checking in as I hadn’t paid for the room so should’ve just cut my losses and stayed elsewhere. Unsurprisingly the WiFi wasn’t working when I arrived (same as the other Silver Sand Sea Princess) yet they have WiFi to take payment! Staff on reception couldn’t care less that you can’t get online. The woman even laughed when I said all I wanted to do was send a message to my husband to let him know I was ok (travelling solo). It took for the general manager to let me log onto his personal WiFi to send the message which I appreciated- thank you. I had requested a high floor room and this is what I was allocated. Sadly I wasn’t informed I would be sharing it with pigeons ratching around in the roof all day and then when they went to bed the bats came out! Sad to say sleep was extremely deprived that night 👎 Next day I requested to move to a ground floor room which I don’t like when I’m staying alone but at least I could have a decent nights sleep. My request was accommodated and that room was much quieter. 👍 However I did decide to move to another hotel for my last night as there’s not much to do in that area and I was bored stiff. On a positive the beach was nice and relaxing, food in the restaurant was good and staff (apart from Reception) were smiley and friendly. The 3 stars are for the food, staff and accommodating my room change.

The property itself is very pretty with beautiful well looked after garden. Very disappointed about the beach which with low tide looked depressing. Staff were helpful but very inexperienced. Bar and restaurant were dull and depressing areas. Good singer in the evening but on our second night she ruined our evening by allowing a guest to sing song after song. He was awful! Swimming pool should be cleaned more often as it was dirty in the evening.

Overall, the stay was very nice. We had a detached 1-storey cabin facing the beach. The cabin was beautiful, and standards were high. Nothing bad to say about the room. There was a long pathway leading to the private beach, which was very nice, with reclining seats with roofs. Not possible to swim there, but amazing mangroves and corals on the beach. Food was good, but expensive. Our con on this stay was three things: - they struggled to find our reservation when we arrived. The error not on our part. Don’t know why. We had to wait a long time. - the WiFi did not work in our room, only in the restaurant and the reception - the were very few adequate English-speaking staff, making it difficult to ask for things.

Good helpful staff Seafood was good too.

We stayed at Silver Sand, Neil around the end of April'18. Our stay was good and happy. This is a nice property, recently made. The rooms are nicely done and the bathrooms are spacious. Rooms are comfortable with lots of windows. Nice sitting area right outside the room. There is a private breach of the property which is nice to walk to but not swimmable. The best part about the place is the staff. Very friendly and always willing to help. They made us feel very comfortable. Room service was prompt and efficient. There is no wifi apart from the reception. Restaurant has a weak connection to the wifi. Works slowly. The food is good. Do not expect too refined international cuisine. Indian food was quiet tasty. But the best part is the staff is open to feedback and they serve you food happily. Their card machine may not work so make sure you carry enough cash. Renting a bike or a car for traveling to different beaches and places is highly recommended. The hotel is not on the main road. Internet is a huge problem over the whole Island so be prepared and download maps in advance. We had two rooms and both rooms had a problem with the bedsheet which they changed promptly. The staff shall take care to avoid such scenarios. A rack to dry the clothes is highly recommended. Apart from few small things, this is a pleasant place to stay in. I am a fussy traveler and I enjoyed my stay and would recommend it as the top places to stay in Neil.
