Beautiful hotel. Lovely gardens and interior design. Most of all, the fantastic staff made the experience.

We stayed here for 3 nights and absolutely loved it. A great location, easy to get just about anywhere from the hotel. The service and staff we're some of the best we've ever had the pleasure to stay with. We highly recommend this location and would stay here again for sure! Thanks Genji Kyoto for taking care of us!

Amazing boutique hotel!!

This is an incredibly special place. It is an architectural masterpiece. The service is impeccable. The location is excellent. The staff pays attention to every detail. What a beautiful stay we had in Kyoto at this amazing space. Thanks to Serj and Eri and Katsuya and the rest of the staff - we will be back!

A boutique hotel located in a tranquil neighborhood beside the beautiful Kamo-gawa River and definitely a highlight of our trip in Kyoto. Very convenient guest rooms with modern-style design combining traditional Japanese elements. Superb and helpful staffs. All of these made a lasting impression on me and gave me wonderful memories.

This is a fabulous hotel from all points of view: convenient location, gorgeous design, excellent amenities, but most importantly staff who go out of their way to accommodate the guests. Everyone was excellent. Many thanks to multilingual Sergei who takes special care of his guests. I highly recommend this hotel and will certainly return if I have another opportunity to be in Kyoto.

Amazing stay at this hotel. Great service, they are all super helpful and friendly. We had our Japanese breakfast at the terrace. Food was delicious and amazing view! Highly recommend this hotel.

Overall great stay at Genji that met expectations. I'd recommend it, though think there are likely equal or better alternatives in Kyoto. We stayed here for 1 night as part of a 2 week honeymoon trip. Room: overall very good. Great shower and bath. Spacious. Nice mix of modern and traditional design. We had a garden room and I wish we had gotten a river view room as the garden view felt a bit meh/dark. Service: helpful and friendly staff. We had one misstep toward the end of our stay re: laundry services that impacted our experience a bit but not a dealbreaker. Area: nice area of Kyoto. Walkable and near the trains. They had just replaced the flooring in our room so there was a strong straw smell. Worth knowing if that kinda thing will bother you.

만족합니다. 작고 귀여운 호텔이에요. 앞 길은 차가 들어가기 좀 좁아서 불편한 점은 있습니다만 호텔의 인테리어와 청결 상태, 강 뷰를 생각하면 감수할만 하다고 생각했습니다. 기회가 된다면 또 묵고 싶은 곳이에요.

源氏物語についても関心を持つ事ができてとても素晴らしかった

Just...wow! Out of more than a dozen places our group stayed, Genji is our favorite place to stay. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, the property is recently opened and in immaculate condition, the rooms are spacious and comfortable. The location is nicely situated in a quiet nook along the river with many popular sites within walking distance. Higashiyama Ward, for example, is a short walk across the river, and Kiyomizudera Nioman Gate is visible from the rooftop garden – definitely check it out at night when it's lit up. We'd stay here forever if it was an option.

Well located, beautifully conceived, designed and constructed. All staff were eager, friendly, thoughtful and competent. Loved the properly constructed timber furniture and the modern traditional design was inspiring.
