Loved everything about our stay. Great location, hospitable owners, beautiful grounds, cute chickens. Clean room and comfy bed, not en-suite but private bathroom for every room, hot shower with very good shower pressure, lovely common kitchen and lounge areas. Would have stayed longer had we could!

Very friendly hosts

Très bel endroit pour relaxer en nature ! Les hôtes sont tellement gentils ! Il y a des avocatiers partout en arrière de l’établissement et si vous êtes chanceux, vous pourrez en déguster !

The bathroom is not shared but not in the room. The sheets are bit weird, I had a lot of red spots after sleeping in it.

Set in lovely quiet gardens with an avocado orchard you can walk around. The room was spacious spacious and very clean. Rupert even got a desk and chair for me to work on my laptop. Lovely place and hosts would love to come back.

Very quiet and clean . Beautiful surroundings and only like 3 mins drive from the main road.

The owners were friendly. Its a nice walk around the property with Avocado Orchard and Bamboo trees. There's a walkway by the water the goes through the property. There are two large shared areas besides the sleeping rooms. The game room had a large TV with Disney and Netflix. They had a handicapp accessible ramp/ walkway up to the rooms. A cafe is on the corner close by that had a descent breakfast and baked goods.

The Purple Hen is a gorgeous country house set in a cute little avocado orchard. Andrea and Rupert were warm and welcoming hosts who made us feel right at home. The upstairs apartment we had was clean and comfortable with our own kitchette, tv lounge, and 4-poster bed. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely consider staying again next time we are in this part of the country!

The room was spacious and the bed comfortable. Shower was great. Bedside table would have been useful and more homely. And shampoo etc in the shower.

The place was absolutely stunning outside and we loved the camping feel of the whole place. The owners were so helpful and kind too.

My girlfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Purple Hen. I have stayed before with my family and loved it just as much then. Andrea and Rupert are always incredibly welcoming and friendly. The room was clean and comfortable, the lounge was cozy, the shower and kitchen were great. We will definitely be back for years to come.

We have stayed at the purple Hen before and enjoyed it then and again this time. We would definitely recommend it to family and friends, great atmosphere, very comfortable, superb surroundings, great facilities, and very ideal central location but in a rural setting

This is a wonderful place to stay. We only had one night here but this would be a wonderful place to take a few days to decompress after a week or two of being on the road, traveling NZ. The kitchen is huge with plenty of space. Each room has its own full size fridge and we had a private bathroom. The bathroom is not en suite but right next door and comes with a key so you can lock your things away if you wish. The property is beautiful, quiet, and has 200 avocado trees that you can walk under and relax. The public areas are very clean and the rooms are a good size. The location is in the county with a small town near by. The hosts were very kind and responsive. This is a nice out of the way place that I would love to visit again.

I was very happy with my stay here. Andrea was very welcoming and helpful. I stayed in a dorm room, but turned out I had it to myself, which was nice. The facilities seem to be purpose built for small share accommodation, with a large kitchen and dining room, and separate lounge space. Everything was spotlessly clean. It felt very tranquil - close enough to the highway to be convenient for those travelling by car, but far enough away to feel like you're staying on a farm away from the world. I would definitely recommend staying here. The eggs and passionfruit were a nice welcoming touch as well.

Stately old home with beautiful garden and views

I really enjoyed that this property was private and we had a lot of privacy with no distractions also that from every room we had a beautiful views. The beds were nice and comfortable with and rooms were very spacious. Nice and big.

A lovely, quitr placr in rural Katikszi. Stayed 2 days, which was a good idea. Had nicreconversations with the caring ownerd and guests. Do it!
