J's Backpackers Hostel

The accommodation looked exactly like the pictures and it has a home-y vibes!

If you happen to look for a loft that is hassle free, stress free and handles transactions smoothly, this is definitely not the place to start bothering yourself with. First, the place is painstakingly difficult to locate. Well, if you happen to live in Davao City, which I do, you'll still find yourself lost in a maze of houses in NHA Buhangin before arriving in their Hostel. Google Maps and IOS Maps cannot even locate the exact block the hostel was in. The residents, even the tricycle drivers cannot even answer our questions properly. So that said, we've ventured almost half of NHA Buhangin just to locate the place, with our bags on our backs, our bodies aching and our stomachs growling. But that is not the worst of it all. When we arrived in our destination, the owner wasn't around and was told to wait for him/her (we haven't even had the chance to meet him/her.) We waited for more than an hour! If we haven't followed up on our booking, we would have waited longer!! Worse comes to worse, it turns out that the hostel was fully booked. In short, we didn't have any place to stay for the night and I paid for almost a thousand for an accommodation that was given to other customers (we heard them talking about a group only giving down payments for their stay while we paid in full). So they opted to give a us a room in their house which is definitely not an option since well, you can imagine what state their room was in when we entered! The window was even outlooking on their dog's lair! Worse! It doesn't have air conditioning! Definitely not worth the price we're paying. So I opted for a refund instead. We talked to the owner's mother on the phone for a couple of times, and mind you, I don't like her attitude on the phone! She's dragging the conversation by asking us over and over again the same questions for I don't know how many times untill the three of us were annoyed (Don't even get me started with her tone!). In the end, I gave them my name and my contact number for them to send me the money through Palawan Express (it pisses me off that they didn't even have money on hand just in case things happens!) and now, days after, I'm still waiting for the money... which is I guess, I have to visit the place again to follow up (which is another painstaking job since I work by shifts in a hospital). I have been reviewing various of things for years now and this is the WORST I have ever encountered. If zero stars ever existed, this place would definitely it.
